Ok Studio One users, seems like we'll get vintage hardware emulations that can be found on StudioLive 32. According to Rick Naqvi, these will come in the new Fat Channel Plugin and as Fat Channel was free, there is a possibility for this to be free too.

Here is the picture to the actual discussion on their YouTube Channel:

I hope so, all of the free updates to S1 3 have been amazing so far....this would be the icing on the cake (although I suspect they may sell it to us via he s1 on line shop.....)
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Is this just like a 'normal' plugin, or a Mix Engine FX plugin?

I really look forward to more Mix Engine FX plugins, Mix Engine FX has been out for a while now and we still only have Console Shapper (as far as I know?) which is great and I use it all the time, I hope MEFX isn't going to be just left sitting there, although even if it did I am so grateful for it and Console Shapper as is, for me it leaves me with no desire to use any of my other DAW's, as the sound it imparts just gives it an edge, something that I can't reproduce in my other DAW's regardless of what 'normal' plugins I use (that and the fact that I much prefer Studio One 3 to begin with :D )

Mix Engine FX was a complete marketing bullet point nonsense that at the time of release was stated as so by anybody with two brain cells, since release near enough every third party developer has pointed out how much of a nonsense it is and they have zero interest supporting it, even the ones that 'supposedly' were about to release never did.
Like pretty much everybody under the sun who actually knew anything asked "Why not VST, even if you are building it in to your mixing mathematics" it lost any tracktion.
Presonus are.....well lets not say what they are, Studio One could have way more users and way more 3rd party support, but then it would not be so useful as marketing tool for their hardware.

@jinotsuh I use it too everytime and I love how drive and cross-talk makes a really nice improvement in the sound that can't really explain it. Drive seems to make it more fatter, fuller sound, it feels like it fills places in the sound that made it sound weak. Cross-talk seems to make it more opened, like the mix breaths. As I said quite hard to explain, but that's my sensation.

@bungle I agree, I think it could've been as a plugin but at the same time it does something that would be too complicated to make it in VST and also use it. I'm talking about cross-talk.

Post

Rubbish, SKnote had a crosstalk plugin out years ago, and it cost about $10 from a single independent developer, that old chestnut is nothing but nonsense pushed by Presonus marketing department again.

Oh and this then turned in to the argument by the fanboys "But yes, i would have to load all those plugins on each channel, this obviously saves time"
So Presonus designing an entirely new plugin format that nobody supports, is much better than Presonus just creating a new 'Plugin on every channel' plugin loader, that used VST, then created the mix engine crosstalk VST hahahaha
(Oh by the way, i did get the Presonus staff to admit on their forum that this could all be done in VST)

I am not sure what is worse, Presonus never ending line of BS, or the mugs who fall for it, and then spurt back up BS as part of their fanboyism.

PS : I like and use Studio One, I just don't fall for any of their BS

That's what I said, it's more complicated to use it/set it up. I don't understand why did you became so defensive and also I don't get it why you are against this Mix FX, is not like it affects you in any way. It was a free update after all and I appreciate that little plugin and what and how it does it.

To be sincere if I had to add a plugin to every track, most likely I wouldn't have used.

DAW control for Studio One for that is coming in 2017. Also, the faderport 8 is going to be amazing to use with studio one 3.

Well for something that is complete BS, it sure sounds good to me :D

oh but that's right I am only imagining it :dog:

You like it, good, who said you were imagining anything ?
What a strange comment !!
That's exactly what I'm talking about, if feels like you're almost jumping at our throats. You already put me into a box with people that say things to re-enforce their decision to buy it. That's a little rude. You have to understand that your opinion is not true for everyone. The fact that you think in a way doesn't mean that everyone is or should.

Those plugs in the vid look nice. I'll be curious to try them when they show up for Studio One. Doubt if they'll be free. The other ones, the channel strips, aren't.

As to MixFx, it just is what it is. I doubt if Console Shaper is the last one from them and I also doubt that no 3rd party plugin developers will ever make any. If I had to guess about third party MixFx my money would be on one of their more common collaborators like SoftTube.

But.. yeah... there will probably be more coming from them. You don't create a modeling system like State Space or whatever to just make a few plugins and then stop.

Post

I suspect that these will be paid for add ons as they employ Presonus' State Space Technology.

Gotta say I'm starting to get tired of all this vintage modelling. I get it, it's based on the conventions that shaped how we interpret recorded sound, but, damn it, what about exploiting new possibilities with digital?

Post

Anyone know if presonus are working on other vintage emulation plug ins? Faderport 8 should drop mid september.

Post

New console from presonus looks good.

Not sure why people continue to fight over the internet, what's the end goal?... I for one enjoy the Mix Engine FX.

As for the vintage gear plugins, I have enough "vintage" plugins in my artillery.

Edit: Is that a puigtec clone that's being shown on the iPad?
