Well I downloaded the demo and I'm pretty intrigued. Here's what I'm thinking so far:
Positives
Very good sound quality
Presets done by someone who knows sound design
Tons of quality samples
Love the layering concept - this is what I do most of the time anyway so why not build it in to the synth
Very cool combination of wavetable synth, sampling, modulation, layering, arp, and effects.
Negatives
Modulation between the layers is complicated
GUI is ugly (need some new skins!)
Price is fairly high for a brand new developer
In summary if this was $100 it'd be an instabuy. At $210, need to think about it a bit.

1) I agree the GUI is quite ugly yeah (I think they are trying to be unique with their colorway, but I prefer blue/darker, let the synth's sound speak for itself-not its colors),noddog wrote:Well I downloaded the demo and I'm pretty intrigued. Here's what I'm thinking so far:

and 2) I'd much prefer the envelope editor to be more similar to serums (adjustable points)

Well I'll say I absolutely love the GUI! .
Far better to me than the dreary dark black/blue/brown that seems to be the trend nowadays!
(Some of those are so dark you have to set your monitor to 'sun-like' brightness to distinguish anything.

If your monitor is correctly calibrated you shouldn't.zxant wrote:(Some of those are so dark you have to set your monitor to 'sun-like' brightness to distinguish anything. Now that is "Yuck!" to me!)

Seems to be an interesting new synth.
I don't like the GUI (skins are supported?).
I've have not installed the demo (yet), only judging because of the YT demos it's a good high quality synth for all kind of styles/sounds.
I see that they asking for about 200€ (Spire is 199€ with VAT included).
There is no introductory offer?

Well I have to. I keep my monitor 'dim' bc. of my migraine!!
It's unbelievable everyone likes those GUI's that look like mud!
Give me something that 'sparkles' like Rapid any time! .

Same here... i'm pretty light sensitive though, so it all appears brighter, and so do the dark GUI's then.zxant wrote:xx JPRacer xx wrote:If your monitor is correctly calibrated you shouldn't.zxant wrote:(Some of those are so dark you have to set your monitor to 'sun-like' brightness to distinguish anything. Now that is "Yuck!" to me!)

Are you sure your migraine is caused by the bright light and not because your monitor use a pwm backlight?zxant wrote:xx JPRacer xx wrote:If your monitor is correctly calibrated you shouldn't.zxant wrote:(Some of those are so dark you have to set your monitor to 'sun-like' brightness to distinguish anything. Now that is "Yuck!" to me!)

If you're not sure what I'm talking about Google "monitor pwm backlight headache".

- Good sound
- Wavetable features are a bit limited compared to Serum (I don't see the option to load custom waves/wavetables)
- Filters are ok but nothing special
- GUI is horrible, sorry I cannot work with it
- Good Unison implementation
- Some features are disabled with the demo eg. the layering, why?
- Some (20?) showroom presets, not so much stuff I would use in a track but it shows what sounds the synth can create
- FX are OK
There is no option to select the needed platform (x32/x64) both are installed, which is not the expected behavior if running this synth on a 64 Bit OS.
Solid synth I see in the price range of 70-100€ (I definitely would not buy it for 200€).

Seems like 1.0.1 is up. Wondering was has changed?
Ok, just saw it was announced a few pages back.
Can customers get an email about the updates? I can't lurk on Kvr non stop.

Yes, you are the leading manager on price development in the whole world...you judge what is worth and what is not worth.4damind wrote: Solid synth I see in the price range of 70-100€ (I definitely would not buy it for 200€).
It would be best if you get if for free...right?

Can we maybe stop with the hyperbole around here. Nowhere did he say he wanted it for free. In fact, he stated exactly what he felt the synth was worth. He's entitled to that opinion.HcDoom wrote:Yes, you are the leading manager on price development in the whole world...you judge what is worth and what is not worth.4damind wrote: Solid synth I see in the price range of 70-100€ (I definitely would not buy it for 200€).

Ultimately, the market is going to decide.

There are none, thats why his reply is totally stupid...70€? Nonsense...Totally underestimates hard work and dedication!starflakeprj wrote:Just out of curiosity, what other competitive synths in the price range 70-100 eur do you see on the market?4damind wrote:Solid synth I see in the price range of 70-100€ (I definitely would not buy it for 200€).
