The confusion here is that the term "$5 increments" can mean two things. It can mean that you must bid $5 higher than the last bid or it can mean that the bids from here on out should end in a 5 or a 0.
I always assumed the former was the case with there being an allowance for rounding up to a 5 or 0 value.

Can somebody please clarify? Is this correct - I would have thought '$5 increments' means just that, otherwise it would be 'round up' to nearest $5 ?
Reading the rules I would have bid $31 as well

The last checkpoint message said:
"Please, just round up or down it's okay. If you do not do it in your bid, I will round down to nearest 5 or 0 to make handling of bids easier."

I'm not Luftrum, but it seems that in that situation $30 and $31 are both valid bids.MikeCallon wrote:foosnark wrote:If the last bid was $26, bid $30 and you're goodwormfingers wrote:I search the thread for The Unfinished Diva Bundle and found the last bid to be $26 and bid $31. I´d interpret the bidding rules like this:MikeCallon wrote:foosnark wrote:If the last bid was $26, bid $30 and you're goodwormfingers wrote:I search the thread for The Unfinished Diva Bundle and found the last bid to be $26 and bid $31. Is there a higher bid I am not aware of?

Reading the rules I would have bid $31 as well
1. Bid in $5-increments (or $10-increments for items >= $100)
2. Optionally round UP to the next -5/-0 amount.
So from $26, the regular outbid amount is $31.
To make the amount nicer and easier to calculate, you can bid $35, but not $30 (as this would be below the outbid-threshold of $5).
EDIT: Of course that was before Luftrum mentioned just a while ago that rounding /down/ is ok too. Now I´m confused too

Check Point! 8 hours left.
All bids until this reply are updated.
Important note to 2nd hand bidders: If you win stuff in the 2nd hand auction you need to pay that separately to EnGee and not mix it with payment for the main auction. I need to keep those two apart. Otherwise it will be a mixed mess for me to sort out.
Regarding $5 and $10 increment rule which can be a bit confusing:

Regarding $5 and $10 increment rule which can be a bit confusing:
- The rule is intended to avoid countless of annoying $1 final minute sniper bids and to make my handling of the bids easier.
- Anyone is welcome to round up or down to nearest 5 or 0 for "free".
- This "free" bid is also okay if bid increment is less than 5 or 10
- If you don't round it, I will round it down for you (not up, that would be unfair).
- After the bid has "settled" on either 5 or 0 it must be raised with 5, 10, 15, 20 etc. for products under 100 and 10, 20, 30, 40 etc. for products over 100.
