Anybody could post their music that needs lyrics here. It's the opposite of the "Lyrics Collaboration - Lyrics Needing Songs" thread.

The idea of this thread is: person A has made music and person B will make lyrics for the music. But there could be permutations like person A + person C, person A + person D, person A + person E, and so on. This means that person A is not committed to person B. Person A could choose person K's lyrics in the end. And person A might not choose person K the next time around. Or maybe person A has already made his/her own lyrics and is just curious if other people could make better lyrics.

Or maybe another person will see the lyrics made here and make their own completely different music for that person's lyrics.

If I like a person's lyrics to my music, I may ask that person to maybe have the music entered in the Mix Challenge and together we may be judges at the MC. I may also want to make a karaoke video of "our song" to be seen on YouTube (and other social media sites) and only if the other person is okay with that. I may also not just make one video but maybe several. It's possible I could make videos of ALL the different lyrics made for my music. Know that I won't change your lyrics and I won't have my music changed (change the mix is okay but not change the melodies nor the background music). I have no interest in collaborating in terms of music-making. I want to progress on that on my own.

Know also that, in the end, "our song" is half mine and you need my permission to do anything with it. And of course this goes the other way too. Know also that I am free to make my own lyrics for that song and that version of that song is separate from "our song" version.

I know my music is very amateurish and it may totally suck to the ears of others but anybody can post their music and lyrics here, amateur or not, but I will start.

Here is one example melody to my music. This is just to know what instrument is used for the melodies.

And here are all my melodies together with my background music.

Ah fark, I hit a snag in the Podium Free DAW, still learning that, I want to send different drum tracks (hihats, kick, snare, etc) to the same VST instrument and have less CPU load, still reading the manual, in between speed scrabble games. But no need to wait for me. Why don't you people start before me? For sure I will have mine finished in a couple of days or so, a week at most, a day at the least.

I was just eager to start the thread even though my music isn't ready yet. Is this thread a bad idea? I realise it could be as bad as the idea of playing lotto. But I had to try. I can't win if I don't play. And I do have the same odds of winning as everybody (except maybe some clever mathematician has a way to increase the odds of winning). And somebody is always winning. But I also read (readed) from another thread that it's bad to announce one's goals in advance. No matter, I will submit my music later. Okey dokey. Laters peephole (kidding) people.

PS. This long post took almost two weeks to complete, little by little.

If this collaboration thingy doesn't work out then I guess I will just have to complete the lyrics myself. It's just so time-consuming and so very difficult, writing lyrics I mean, to me at least. I suppose I could start making music for existing lyrics at the "Lyrics Collaboration - Lyrics Needing Songs" thread but that would probably be even harder to do. And I might have to eventually ask one of the mods to maybe change this thread's title to "Music I Made To Fit Other People's Already Made Lyrics".

Wow. That's fast. Okay I'm off to input that into my Podium DAW and see if it fits. Hmm, I'm not even sure that DAW has a lyrics input function. If no, I'll find another way. Thanks a bunch.

Hey hey Numanoid, thanks for the lyrics but I had trouble fitting them to my melodies. I counted the number of syllables in your lyrics and they add up to 64. But my melodies only has 55 notes. It's probably hard to hear the melodies when other instruments are in the background. It's my fault. I am new to this kind of collaboration but I figure the problems can be corrected as they come along. What I should have done in the first place is to upload all the melody lines without the background music. So here they are:

Line 1 (5 notes)
Line 2 (12 notes)
Line 3 (5 notes, identical to Line 1)
Line 4 (12 notes, identical to Line 2)
Line 5 (5 notes)
Line 6 (10 notes)
Line 7 (6 notes)

I spent some time today trying to remember how I made videos of music + lyrics. The last method that I used about six months ago is not so good. The words need to stay longer on the screen. I'll find a hopefully better way tomorrow. If the lyrics line up with the music then I can make the video and I could upload it to YouTube and leave it there for a day or two for you to evaluate and if you end up not liking it then I can delete them. Okay, goodnight then. And thanks again.

Yesterday, I thought to myself "I guess I better complete the lyrics to this song of mine myself", and voila I surprised myself and actually finished it. I guess the main influence on my song's lyrics is Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here song. Another influence is KVR members who were gone for a while, especially about two of them, maybe even three. And lately, even more of them. Well, I'm glad they are back but during their absence I actually wished they were not gone.

The other lyrical influences are: someone who had dementia and deadbeat parents, people I personally know. Not my own parents but relatives's parents. I know of someone that had dementia, he died in the hospital. I was expecting him to get better there (wrongly, people don't get better from dementia?) but instead he died and I'm not even sure how he died. I sometimes think somebody killed him because he was such a difficult patient (I heard that security staff were being called because he got so violent many times). Lately on the news is about a nurse who is now on trial for allegedly overdosing 8 or more elderly patients with insulin.

Anyways, here is my completed lyrics that I titled Apparent Absent:

Hey, you're gone again.
You don't know where you are but I know you're not there.

Hey, you're gone again.
You don't know where you are but I know you're not there.
Hey, you've gone away.

Nowhere is where you are and it's not here.
No. You are not here.

Later today, I will probably upload a video on YouTube of this song, if I can remember one of my previous methods on creating a "music + words" video. Again, I read somewhere that announcing one's goals is not a good thing to do but so far it forced me to finish a song, so I don't know, maybe some truths are not true for everyone?

It's too bad no one else so far but Numanoid made lyrics for my music. I'm grateful for his effort. I wanted to make a video of that but his lyrics and my music were not aligned, meaning that some of his lyric lines did not begin/ended where my melody lines began/ended. I think I might make a video of that later, to show what I mean by misalignment. If that is okay with Numanoid.

I find writing lyrics very hard to do (much much much harder than making music which itself is also so difficult) and I wondered if it is just as hard for everybody, especially if it has to fit already existing music made by others. Hence this thread. I was hoping a lot of people would find it easy to do that (make lyrics) because then it might have been collaboration heaven, with everybody.

Okay, so, here is the video of my song. I decided to not stick with its previous title which was Apparent Absent. Its new title is You Are Not Here. I hope it doesn't end up at the "Worst Song" thread (does that thread include ones made by amateurs?) but if it does end up there, I would not be surprised. But hey I did ask people to perhaps improve my crappy creation by asking them to add lyrics that may be better than my own, thus possibly making my effort less "worst".

Since Numanoid's lyrics did not quite fit my previous melodies syllable by syllable, at first I thought I should adjust my existing previous melodies to fit his lyrics. But then later I thought I should just create new melodies and scrap the previous melodies and background music.

So, I did completely start over and made a sort of EDM-like stuff. I do like that Kylie Minogue bass style from the song I Can't Get You Out Of My Head. I also like the guitar sound from the song She Sells Sanctuary by the band The Cult. Not even close?

I am coming to the conclusion that writing the lyrics first then the music later might be easier than creating the music first. Or maybe do both at the same time could even be easier. Or just writing music to other people's lyrics might just be the easiest of all to do?

Anyhow, for now, here is just a really sparse 4-bar loop (three minutes worth) of yet-another-songwriting-method attempt by moi. For the rest of this November I plan to complete the music for the rest of Numanoid's lyrics. The end result may suck but I learn stuff during the process.
