But seriously I am so glad Urs has an obsession with the ProOne and it makes me feel good to know even he & team U-he had a really hard time recreating it in software. So I raise my cup to Urs' & Co.'s Pro-One obsession. 3 cheers!

TimewARP2600 osc and filter doesn't sound like actual 2600. Altho very few of us have experience with actual 2600 but thanks to KARP everyone could try similar osc and filters and notice the difference.HunterKiller wrote:Yeah that does sound great, but I've been doing this kind of raw in your face sound with TimewARP2600 for ten years now.
I think any good analog or VA has it's own raw in your face tones depending on sound design abilities of owner.

I think [hope] the likelihood of a public beta happening this week is pretty high. I check the instruments forum more than I care to admit in the hopes that I'll see a new thread announcing it's available.spunkmuffin wrote:OK it's gotta be this week. It's JUST GOTTA!
Luckily, I stumbled upon The Legend in the last week so I've had an amazing Minimoog to tide me over. Sounds like Urs is basically shelving any plans he had of doing a Repro Mini as a result of that release, so you know it's good. I just hope a Repro-DG (Prodigy) is still on the table along with the possible Repro-5. I think we've finally gotten to the point where the right folks emulating a classic analog synth can do so at a level of accuracy that is virtually (no pun intended) indistinguishable from the original. It's going to be awesome when we've got uber-accurate emulations of all these classics sitting in our plugin folders.

It actually does, but you gotta get the right version. It sounds closest to the 2601 V1.0 but with a V2.0 filter.david.beholder wrote:TimewARP2600 osc and filter doesn't sound like actual 2600. Wayoutware had a superb analog emulation, but they are so true to the original sound that many people think they sound bad. Mostly the sound of the old ARPs is mystified and over-glorified by people who haven't played the original synths. Then they try the ARP2600V by Arturia (which sounds more like a Moog synth than anything else), and go "HEY, this TimeWARP2600 thing sounds like s**t! Arturia's is much better!". Because that doesn't sound like an ARP synth at all.

On the bright side, maybe with boring synths people might put their creativity into composition instead of making tracks that sound like EDM soundset advertisements..jon wrote:It's going to be awesome when we've got cpu-eating emulations of all these old, boring synths sitting unused in our bloated plugin folders.

I actually think the one developer who got that filter sound right is GForce with their Oddity 2. I don't have a 2600 or Odyssey to compare it to, but the ARP filter on my ATC-X QFS sounds scarily close to Oddity 2.HunterKiller wrote:It actually does, but you gotta get the right version. I think 2600V is very long in the tooth and suffers from the muddy crap sound of a plug in that should have been updated years ago. I think Wayoutware's TimewARP is a little better in some ways, but I'd never give that company a dime every again. Shady as can be. The truth is, there's no good ARP 2600 emulation and I don't think there's one on the horizon. One quick way we could get there is if Native Instruments introduced an ARP filter and oscillator blocks to Reaktor 6. Then we could just build it.

Is it official announcement that Repro-Mini is not happening or just wishful thinking?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Luckily, I stumbled upon The Legend in the last week so I've had an amazing Minimoog to tide me over. It's actually doesn't. And if you want to compare - get your hands to TW2600 and ARP and then just change cutoff and resonance on basic waveforms.HunterKiller wrote: It actually does, but you gotta get the right version. It sounds closest to the 2601 V1.0 but with a V2.0 filter.

I wouldn't call it wishful thinking. This is what Urs said:david.beholder wrote:Is it official announcement that Repro-Mini is not happening or just wishful thinking?Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Luckily, I stumbled upon The Legend in the last week so I've had an amazing Minimoog to tide me over. Yup, it's a good synth, made by good guys, highly recommended.
As we're currently evaluating to do more mono synth emulations, I guess with legend out there we can skip the Minimoog and move straight to other challenges.

With such warm, state of the art analog filter resonance hump emulation, who needs compositionzerocrossing wrote:On the bright side, maybe with boring synths people might put their creativity into composition instead of making tracks that sound like EDM soundset advertisements..jon wrote:It's going to be awesome when we've got cpu-eating emulations of all these old, boring synths sitting unused in our bloated plugin folders.

A bit of speculation does not mean it was ever announced in the first place... and with Diva having Minimoog modules, I think it unlikely a RePro-Mini would have happened anyway, regardless of Legend. I do not remember Urs announcing any subsequent specific RePro synth... just that they are interested and he mentioned a few possibilities.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:I wouldn't call it wishful thinking. It is amazing how the desire for more and more can run rampant. RePro-1 isn't even in public beta yet.
