Right, but Urs has publicly stated that there's likely to be more Repro's in the works with specific possibilities mentioned having included an Octave Cat, Minimoog, Prodigy, and a Prophet-5. It's come up multiple times across multiple threads, and Urs even indicated they've acquired new synths for potential modeling. Sounds like the quote from Urs indicates that the Minimoog is no longer up for consideration. Sure, it may never have happened in the first place, or maybe he'll still change his mind, but my post quoted him on the subject and he's the one bringing up potential plans in a public forum. I'm pretty sure it's safe to take Urs at his word and that a Mini was a possibility and isn't very likely now. If Urs didn't want us to know what he was thinking, he wouldn't tell us. I think we all understand that nothing is official until it's official.pdxindy wrote:A bit of speculation does not mean it was ever announced in the first place... and with Diva having Minimoog modules, I think it unlikely a RePro-Mini would have happened anyway, regardless of Legend. I do not remember Urs announcing any subsequent specific RePro synth... just that they are interested and he mentioned a few possibilities.
It is amazing how the desire for more and more can run rampant. RePro-1 isn't even in public beta yet.
Repro-1 (out now)

That's price of digital inequality: when some have access to beta, others have not. So we have to party on forum.pdxindy wrote:It is amazing how the desire for more and more can run rampant. RePro-1 isn't even in public beta yet.
I remember Urs was mentioning RePro-DG, RePro-DC and Octave Cat; Prophet-5 was frequent request; I don't remember Minimoog at all.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Right, but Urs has publicly stated that there's likely to be more Repro's in the works with specific possibilities mentioned having included an Octave Cat, Minimoog, Prodigy, and a Prophet-5.
I might be wrong tho.

The thing is, we don't need another Moog emu, just like we don't need another Hammond emu.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Right, but Urs has publicly stated that there's likely to be more Repro's in the works with specific possibilities mentioned having included an Octave Cat, Minimoog, Prodigy, and a Prophet-5. There are other things to emulate. Other synths, other organs, other instruments and eventually move forward past simple emulation, into true innovation.

Emulations are a step backward.

YOU don't need one, so what? I'll gladly accept another classic analog emulation and I'm sure it will be popular as hell.HunterKiller wrote: The thing is, we don't need another Moog emu

Quality of emulation counts if you can hear well. Secondly this synth has not been emulated.
And third, anyone who knows what a SC Pro-1 is and is capable of knows it is different and sounds different.
So thanks for bothering to make the top notch emulation Repro-1 Urs. I look forwards to it greatly.
I could be wrong but emulation seems to be a task where quality and skill is fundamental as you have a lot to measure up to. Whereas another 3 osc VA of X flavour can be literally anything as the quality is very variable, strengths and weaknesses. And many of these 3 osc VA's seem to compromise sound quality in some ways. I am always listening for the fidelity and sound quality myself and with releases like Diva there are clear and noticeable differences once you drop it in a mix.

Yep, I also thought so. But then, I have a collection of vintage analogue beauties and no time to play them. They collect dust. It's a shame. I want to sell them off to more caring homes. But before I do, I want to model them. Or rather, get my students, interns or freshmen to do that for me. It's a good exercise..jon wrote:Emulations are a step backward.
Myself, I'm going to do mostly innovative work and maybe a filter or two.

Viewing things from that perspective, I agree with you. I hope you take great advantage of what you learned with RePro-1 for future work in DIVA and Zebra 3Urs wrote:.jon wrote: I have a collection of vintage analogue beauties and no time to play them. BTW: Do you still have plans for something related with Synthex or was that postponed to an uncertain future?

If that is the case then Zebra 2 needs the sonics upgraded. I have never used it in a track yet. I don't like the top end in it. It sounds somehow intangible to my ear.

Thanks for the tip but I have synths that sound subjectively better overall at 44.1 so I use them.
