Tried Z2. hated it. Sounded thin and the workflow was restricted. It's getting long in the tooth though. I am expecting good things from Z3 with updated algo's though and I am hoping to buy in at that point. There are plenty of more exciting offerings from U-he at this point though. Bazille is the business, many folks still don't understand how high quality ace is for some reason and further Hive development is making my skin tingle. I really think they are about to up the anti with Hive. There is a lot of excitement building for that.

Well, without Zebra there wouldn't be a Diva or a Bazille or a Hive. All of these have been developed to eventually improve certain aspects of Zebra. With ZebraHZ I guess it's obvious, but Bazille and Hive will leave their mark as well.

fair enough. Zebra is nothing if not ground breaking and inventive. Just wasn't what I wanted in a full on modular instrument. Bazille did the trick though. I'm sure upgrading the algo's on Z3 will make it sound very modern and updated. I'll look into it when the time comes. Good luck on the repro. The initial demos sound amazing.

Zebra is special. Its the first born child, and the one with what everything started (Zoyd was kind of an embryo)Urs wrote:Well, without Zebra there wouldn't be a Diva or a Bazille or a Hive. I think I am a bit confused about the releases as well. not full up on the specifics of the names of Alpha, Beta, public etc. Came back into making music not so long ago.
I read on a thread a "public beta release" a few days ago. Is that going to be in public domain or just sent to beta testers ?
And then shortly after the full release for sale to those paying the bills.

@Urs
What is now the estimation for Public Beta? and the final release?

In general it's as follows:Synthman2000 wrote:not full up on the specifics of the names of Alpha, Beta, public etc.
Alpha version: Early development stage, not all features implemented, not necessarily optimized
Beta version: All features inside, but possibly bug ridden, maybe not fully optimized
Release Candidate: A beta that is supposed to have all important bugs fixed and is optimized
Final: What's offically out there.
For Repro-1 we
- released an early alpha version ("RePro-Alpha") as freeware (happened in this thread), we call it "Research Ware"
- have gone through a few rounds of internal beta testing with a closed group of testers (this phase is now almost finished)
- have planned to publish a beta version for public testing with a time-limited serial number, anyone can take part
- at the same time offer an introductory price as incentive to take part in testing
- do a final release a few weeks later, for the final price from then on

The estimation now depends on how long it takes to check the last changes in, have it still build today and have the beta team go over it briefly overnight. And also whether or not NI's Q&A gives us a go for the included NKS version. If all goes well, it's hours rather than days, followed by a release 3-4 weeks later.MillerSam wrote:@Urs

LOL, just checked again with the sound designers, they're stalling it for a few hours... maybe Thursday rather than Wednesday...

Because the level of quality competition is higher in the Mac/PC world. It is easy to be good in the minor leagues!Cinebient wrote: There must be a reason why Moog and Korg (others might follow....Roland?) make now exclusive iOS apps![]()

Or because plugins would directly compete with their hardware and destroy their marketing.pdxindy wrote:Because the level of quality competition is higher in the Mac/PC world. Speak for yourself: instead of "we" that looks idiotic in first person speech use "I".HunterKiller wrote: The thing is, we don't need another Moog emu, just like we don't need another Hammond emu.
Also nobody has emulated Hammond even on the same level Minimoog is emulated.
For last ten years and still emulations are actually step forward towards better sound and usability..jon wrote:Emulations are a step backward.

I like that. I like that a lot. Something to think about. It's easy when there isn't a lot of competition isn't it?
