The first step in this direction is done by Behringer for the DeepMind 12:

And augmented reality makes much more sense then VR in the studio, because you will still want to play real the real instrument to get haptical feedback (okay, they work also on the haptical feedback: https://www.engadget.com/2016/08/24/dex ... -feedback/, so maybe it's only a matter of time).

When I first saw reports about VR data gloves I thought it would be cool if you could control VST's with them.

VR resurrected the radio star.
Tangled roots perplex her ways.

I disagree. I find controlling virtual synths and effects in a natural way a huge problem. I've been using a lot of analog hardware lately, and it´s just so much more comfortable, when every function has it´s own controller. Especially with augmented reality, quite lightweight and transparent solutions could be invented for this.

Computers will get better, and we have to get new ones sooner or later. That train wont stop. I hate the wasteful way our culture is advancing, with all the huge environmental problems, but I think the advance of computer technology is bringing so many possibilities that it has to be allowed to move on free.

Look up Todd Machover's MIDI Glove - way old.

I'm holding off for a full-blown holosuite, with a selection of classic studio programs ready to run... Complete with session musicians...

f**k vr! Just give me a logic pro-fluent Siri.

"Siri. Give me 'Sculpture' on track 1, routed to 'Space Designer' on bus 1...Thanks"

Oh boy so much concentration on technology and so little on the melody :))

Ah, already mentioned by Taika-Kim. Rad 90s sci-fi vr studio vibes in any case, haha.

A bullshit gimmick, indeed!

A while ago I saw an interesting device. I can't remember if it was a concept or an actual thing but the idea was brilliant. I'll post an example further down but it's not the one I saw before.

It was a touchscreen that had miniature dials on it much like the new Microsoft Surface has:

This is actually something I'm really hoping Microsoft cashes in on and develops further. Imagine if developers of these synths could design a touchscreen interface that could work with mini knobs similar to this: http://interestingengineering.com/tuna- ... uchscreen/ but with great hardware and support. It would transform the way we use a lot of these plugins and with something like the new Surface PC... my god.

Not only is it more feasible from a development standpoint than VR, but an end user standpoint.

Do you mean this here maybe?......

I would hope that windows multi-touch takes off for music apps but iOS is miles ahead, even when the OS itself is crippled (but also comes with a lot things which are better).
