Frankly, LuSH-101 can do a LOT less than this thing.Muziksculp wrote:By the way, LUSH-101 is 149 Euros, it offers 8 layers. But is not a wavetable synth, I really like using Lush 101, very nice GUI as well.

Couldn't have said it any better.quantum7 wrote:They should be able price the thing any price they want. If it's too expensive for you, don't bitch about it, just don't buy it! That said though, I tried the demo and thought it was nice, but nothing to write home about in comparison to the competition. If I wrote mostly EDM and owned nothing else, I might...might pick it up, but since I write little EDM and already own a million other synths, 200 Euros is much too rich for my blood considering. I cannot lie though, for the price I was expecting something a little nicer....but that is my opinion, someone else might think it's the second coming. Obviously they will lower the price if not enough people buy it. If you want to make a living from what you sell, you'll always follow the market.

Which translates to the fact that RAPID's price might be just right, given it can do a lot more than LUSH 101.chk071 wrote:Frankly, LuSH-101 can do a LOT less than this thing.Muziksculp wrote:By the way, LUSH-101 is 149 Euros, it offers 8 layers. Anyways..... I like the sounds I hear RAPID able to produce, and I will purchase RAPID once it gets its first major feature update.

170 USD would have been the swee spot, it does offer a good amount of functionality. Also I don't like the GUI that much, seems cartoonish.

wow what a surprise, but i guess with spire, Serum and Electra2 i dont see any argument to get this synth as well..

I have all of those and I like RAPID the best. One of the main reasons besides the incredibly good sound quality is for me EVERY single preset is usable and inspiring for me.

I own Spire and now Rapid, for me they complement each other really well soundwise and featurewise. As you have Serum and Electra you probably have it all covered (Serum for advanced wavetable functionality and Electra for big layered patches) but Rapid has really nice sound chracter, I prefer its sound to both of them.Caine123 wrote:wow what a surprise, but i guess with spire, Serum and Electra2 i dont see any argument to get this synth as well..

yeah you described it very well, i also like the Electra2 sound which is a bit thinner/plastic (yes tone2, but that'S why i like their synths), Serum is a machine for a lot of different stuff, i dont use it for bread & butter but mostly experimental basses, atmos etc. somehow. it's so fun to play with it.recursive one wrote:I own Spire and now Rapid, for me they complement each other really well soundwise and featurewise. RAPID might be a nice synth for everything!

This is the best sounding and easy to program I have seen. I dont have serum or Electra but I do have massive Dune 2 and Spire. All I know is the basic wavetables sound larger before I have even added effects. The fact that I will be able to save effect presets...come on.

After demoing it a bit:
1.- Very nice demo, it works well enough for testing it properly while restricting enough stuff and leaving you wishing to explore more.
2.- The modulation system is like massive but I didn't find it that intuitive, I can't find what I am doing wrong. I must check the manual
3.- Quite good number of features and options.
4.- Good CPU use
5.- The sound is nice, but a little to bright to my taste, found hard to tame it.
6.- Presets are very limited in scope, all are EDM-Trance nothing interesting that shows what this is synth is capable off.
Not bad at all, I still don't like the GIO that much and some elements have text "dials" instead of knobs which make them harder to tweak, for example the semitones and detune options.
The GUI is quite the mix of massive and waldorf largo.
Default filters are a bit generic.

I have Rapid here. Yesterday I think I understand why this is such a good synth. It seems very pliable !
It is stable.
Sounds good.
Sounds different in a good way.
Very capable.
I like the GUI more and more.
I like the fonts in the drop down as well, oldskool and good/like massive.
CPU seems fine here.
Some presets use quite a lot of memory
I really would appreciate a manual now, you really can learn so much from a manual just flicking through for 20mins. The routing is a little confusing at times... some things do not seem intuitively "drag and drop-able" (Talker effect knobs, what do I do with those to assign a modulation source in terms of drag and drop ?) and I always end up manually routing things in the source/dest slots which is fine really. I do like that these mod routings are all in 1 place and not hidden behind tabs.
I am not sure on this yet so it is not a criticism but I sometimes feel the envelope profiles do not seem to relate well to what I hear/expect. In the same way that Massive's don't. I cannot quite explain it yet though as I don't have picture memory of them.
I would definitely like better filters, not necessarily more but just better. They are a little vanilla. They are kind of Massive-like IMO. A bit more character would not go amiss. Many sounds seem to change their timbre very significantly just between the 11 and 1 o' clock positions.
I put the WT's etc. on my external USB drive and it is completely fine. The load time is fully acceptable for me. No single preset has taken longer than 3 seconds to load and I do not think I will be using them because they don't seem to be in my preferred genre anyway.(Psy/Goa)
I like the GUI and I always never minded it. It has a good feel when moving around it, something like secure and powerful, gives you a feeling of authority. Especially now winter is here the waveform profiles and oscilloscope look like little wood burning stoves where you can see the orange flame flicker of warmth as the waveforms dance around.
I like the visual feedback in this synth. Once I get to grips and go a bit deeper I think it will be in my top 6 synths.
I am happy and once I get to know it clearly I think it will be quite Rapid to make meaningful sounds. However this is very dependent on ability and I am only a 5/10 in the synth programming stakes.

Now that at least 4 people have said that iirc, could you please consider putting a set of more "characterful" filters into your "to do" list?Synthman2000 wrote: I would definitely like better filters, not necessarily more but just better. I understand that it would be a hard work and not what one can do in a month or two, and even without that Rapid is an exceptionally good sounding synth as it is, but anyway
