Thank´s for the warning....but what is for those who updated and already bought the IAP and want to use it without the Blocks?
Means that really that the Rise looking surface is gone completly?
That would be a very dissapointing issue.
Maybe they scared about sales of the Rise otherwise.
They fit perfectly with Apple these days :(
They totally lost me now....not that they would care but another good exampel how to make a great tool for consumers and piss on your early customers :x :x :x

Juce API has just been updated to include Blocks SDK, and just noticed this:

Code: Select all

    enum Type
    {
        unknown = 0,
        lightPadBlock,
        liveBlock,
        loopBlock,
        developerControlBlock,
        seaboardBlock,
        rotaryDialBlock
    };
does the seaboardBlock refer to a block that allows a seaboard to be connected, or a new 'bigger block'?

I was angry about this and was about to contact them to complain, but I just read this on their site:
We’ve redeveloped NOISE from the ground up, and that’s why we’ve had to temporarily disable Seaboard View and other features. Not to worry, though! We will reintroduce them within a month. We apologize for any inconvenience that the temporary removal of these features may have caused.

But how they handle this is not a good way (at least for me).
They should solve bugs from Equator and Dashboard before releasing new stuff.
I know i should stop whining.....they already go more and more into the "consumer everybody is a DJ" thing. But yeah...iPhones will rule the world and SIRI will slave us all to the matrix :D

Thats certainly how its marketed but since it apparently works as a midi controller over USB it isnt quite as limited to that as it might appear.

I hope the playing surface feels very similar to the seaboard rise (apart from the lack of key waves) because I just ordered one. 2-3 week shipping estimate means I will be left to my imagination for a while.
Yeah, you are right... the usb-c port can send midi so it can be used as a regular midi controller. You can also connect 4 of them together (some articles said 2)... I take back what I said :wink:

WTF on that? It went from a great app to... uhrg. :dog:

I'm actually quite excited about this now. At first I just thought it was iOS crap, which it is, but using two of these stacked vertically as a midi controller would actually be really cool. You'd get 4 octaves in a tall guitar like layout (assuming you can adjust the octave range of each). Sort of like a linnstrument but going taller rather than wider. Would be perfect to the right of another keyboard. But I still want to get equator so I'd better get a rise 25 too. But I think that combined with a couple blocks would be super cool.

The thing in curious about though is whether the slide works over the change from one block to another when connected side to side.

And I think we need a separate blocks thread in this forum. Nobody seems to be going to the one in the mobile forum. Created new thread here:

just be aware you wont be able to slide between the blocks seamlessly, as there is a border and so a deadzone. perhaps they will bring out large blocks later... as they did with the RISE.

also currently there is a limit of 2 lightpad blocks in setup, though this is going to be raised to 4.
(Im trying to find out, if this is a hardware limitation, or a function of using noise...so perhaps wont be a limit once the mac gets an application for the desktop)

Wow. Remove the existing functionality instead of waiting till they get that right. Stupid. Lots of that going around in the tech industry lately.

Since the is a dedicated blocks thread now, I've got a question going back to the Rise.

Can any Rise uses tell me if, when playing in mono mode, the different keys still send their own expression signals and cut off previous notes expression? The linnstrument for example is designed so that playing mono legato, a new note will cut off a previously held and pitch bent note with an immediate no bend so it doesn't take the pitch bend signal from a previous note that it cut off, which is smart and necessary for mono legato mode. Does the seaboard do the same?

Post

Sorry that I havent used mono mode enough to answer that question with any confidence at the moment.

Meanwhile I just blew all my cash on softube modular because they added a Roli input module to it - looks like great fun but I'm now too tired to actually try it, roll on the weekend :D

Post

Only had time to play with the roli presets now included in softube modular so far, but I'm already getting a sense of joy and the understanding of quite how quickly my weekend may evaporate via 'modular time'. But my it's fun and it sounds great and having the expressive touch of the roli control these sorts of sounds is blowing my mind all over again.

I would like to know how this goes for you. Since i saw this i thought about softube modular. But all the things about the patch saving and other stuff is holding me back.
The module looks great on paper....but does it work as good as it looks?

We did it with the best of intentions, to get all the functionality that all our creators need into a single powerful app and not make people repurchase sound packs, we see now that this was a mistake that resulted in an interruption of service of the Seaboard view functionality. We’re sorry for the frustration that our mistake caused, and we want to correct it immediately.

We have brought the original NOISE functionality back in a newly renamed app called "Seaboard 5D" which is available on the App Store now for free. We will continue to add functionality to the new NOISE App.

Please see https://support.roli.com/Update-to-the-NOISE-app/ for more details.

Hi Roli Team,

Thank you for the quick response to our concerns!

While I hopefully still have your attention, a question- is NOISE really the Equator sound engine behind the scenes? Any chance of a future update which would allow Equator users to download their own patches to NOISE?
