I got the Ravenscroft 275 library since two weeks now and still think this was a very good decision. Have rarely used any of the other pianos i own since then (and when i did then mostly for comparison purposes).
Maybe that piano does not work for everyone also as it has it's has it's own sound different from e.g. a Yamaha or Steinway but i like the sound as it is. Still got a few otehr options if i need a differnt sound (e.g. Alicia's Keys or The Grandeur).

Me neither, bua apparently it's the descendant of the old company founded by Steinweg before emigrating to the US. Good DNA, I would say.Ingonator wrote:Modartt released the "Grotrian Concert Royal grand piano" model for Pianoteq 5:

Pianoteq is an option, but you can have both in any sampler. You can buy Scarbee Vintage Keys, and a library of your choice form the many good ones available in Kontakt, like Alicia Keys, for example.
But Pianoteq would be my first choice, if you privilege the Acoustic Piano. Anytime.

Very happy to se Moddart release another model, Grotrian is an old bran and a premium one. It is nice they bring these instruments in to the spotlight, there are so many manufacturers that are ignored while developers make the nth steinway (modeled or virtual).
Hope to see other similar brands, Sauter and Mason & Hamlin would have my interest.

In Kontakt, you can use two different instruments (let's asay, an acoustic and an electric piano) assigned to the same MIDI channel, and create a modulation routing in each one where one will react to volume changes opposite to the other (while one goes up, the other goes down, and vice-versa). The same can be achieved in Falcon. Don't know if this is what you are looking for.mementus wrote:I meant one VST where you can create your sound by blending from acoustic to electronic sounds together into a single piano, without creating 2 different tracks.

I don't have kontakt, can this be achievable with a single piano with kontakt player?fmr wrote:In Kontakt, you can use two different instruments (let's asay, an acoustic and an electric piano) assigned to the same MIDI channel, and create a modulation routing in each one where one will react to volume changes opposite to the other (while one goes up, the other goes down, and vice-versa). How do you want to have an acoustic sound morphing into an electronic sound with a single piano sound? And without a full featured instrument where to program what you want? Sorry, but with just the player, I can't see a way to do it.mementus wrote:I don't have kontakt, can this be achievable with a single piano with kontakt player?fmr wrote:In Kontakt, you can use two different instruments (let's asay, an acoustic and an electric piano) assigned to the same MIDI channel, and create a modulation routing in each one where one will react to volume changes opposite to the other (while one goes up, the other goes down, and vice-versa). What you want is available in any old hardware ROMpler. The issue with the VST world is that there aren't many products out there that match what an Emu, Roland or Yamaha ROMpler would do. I guess the old Proteus X from Emu would do the job. Or the Spectrasonics Keyscape instruments played in Omnisphere. I doubt it's what you want but the UVI EGP is a sample library of the Yamaha CP70 electric grand piano, which has the ability to mix the electric pickup signal and the acoustic output picked up by mics over the top of the soundboard – but it's a sound that's not quite an acoustic grand nor an electric (as it's hitting strings rather than banging tines).

Thank you guys. The point is that I don't need a 50gb guy. I just need a single piano-VST with a very high quality/versatility (acoustic/electric) ratio to integrate with my Cubase's stock Halion sonic SE onesGamma-UT wrote:What you want is available in any old hardware ROMpler. If you don't want Keyscape, then Kontakt really is your best choice. It's not a "50lb guy" if you don't install all of its sample libraries. If cost, as opposed to sample size, is your primary concern then a reasonable alternative is AIR's structure. You can get it with all of their other synths for $76 right no if you buy xpand2 and then upgrade. The thing is though, the pianos are not on the same level as say those that come with Komplete.mementus wrote:Thank you guys. The point is that I don't need a 50gb guy. I don't think that you're going to find a lightweight product that meets your needs that is also high quality. I just can't see a market for it. I think that most people would just create two tracks and be done with it. There are a couple of other similar "piano" collections but they're not immediately coming to mind, and, I'm pretty sure the ones that I'm thinking of are Kontakt based.
