Easy, working 9-5. Done. :D Not enough money? Get a different job.

Enough money for plugins, no time for music making. :clown:
Yeah, that is the problem with that approach. Especially if you sit in front of the f***ing computer all day long at your (granted, well-paid) job and are not that inclined to continue doing the same at home again, not with a sore back and whatnot.

Lol... here in my country its not the easy to just get another job.. espevially when goverment rule dictates that white males are not allowed to be employed formally especially office jobs... consequently I am a fulltime muso and Wedding Dj..
..jip it keeps me alive but new plugin acquisitions are very few and far between

Post

I don't smoke, drink, eat out, or drive ... gotta have some fun. :ud:

Music is strictly a hobby for me and I treat plugins as a part of my disposable income and entertainment budget. I have no doubt I'd think about things differently if some or all my income came from digital audio.
Feel free to call me Brian.

That's what got me back in to hardware and modular synths, too much PC at work....great for business travel on a laptop though ;-)

When I was young and had the time I never had the money for synths (it was the early 80's in my late teens...DX7 just came out and was king) but I got in to trackers on my Atari...back then it was cheap (free!) and pretty underground! Way too many options now a days, noi wonder so many people get analysis paralysis and just end up as collectors rather than musicians! (although I think we call ourselves producers when that happens ;-)
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I don't afford it. I don't buy plugins anymore. I have what I need.

Oh... oh no... Those are naughty words 'round here aren't they?

That's sacrilege :o :) ... if it aint the latest Plug.. you aint the greatest ( insert muso.. producer... DJ... synth collector...here)... at least thats whats the marketing conspiracy wants us to believe... :borg:

Hope you are doing good!! Just a general question. . How do you guys afford to buy so many new plugins? How do you raise the money? What Is $100-$200 worth in your life of responsibilies and bills and monthly expenses? What is your driving force? GAS? Commercial exploits or production projects?
some people can afford to buy all the plugs they want, some can't. Your question is odd because it seems to assume everyone can afford to buy whatever they want.

Compared to being back in the 80's having to hire somebody programming or operating a synth for a particular project

These days user have it so good, being able to buy plugins at dirt cheap prices
