I was referring to the Monty Python sketch, but yeah, its good to be lucky. I was the guy who went and programmed the drum machine at my local studio in the 80s. Was mostly tape op work back then.

Ooops, missed the Monty Python reference  I know that sketch

But then again I am forged in the 80's and Kylie's "I should be so lucky" decade :D

Those were the days Numanoid... the good ole days... when music was still palatable.... it was the S.A.W projects that I heard as kid that sparked my Interest in music production.

how do i afford it?

i was able to handle the plug-ins. maybe $100+ for the toneboosters pack, and over multiple years, the odd $10,$20,$30,$40 plug-in here and there, with the $5 CM online purchase. everything was fairly 'under control'.

then i started in on hardware -- guitars, amps, pedals. omg! i am definitely not affording it.

if a person sticks to software, and seeks out the lower-cost and freeware plug-ins, they should be ok. start getting into expensive software, or 'dabbling' in hardware -- watch out. ymmv

Hope you are doing good!! Just a general question. . How do you guys afford to buy so many new plugins? How do you raise the money? What Is $100-$200 worth in your life of responsibilies and bills and monthly expenses? What is your driving force? GAS? Commercial exploits or production projects?
some people can afford to buy all the plugs they want, some can't. Your question is odd because it seems to assume everyone can afford to buy whatever they want.
 reading through all the posts where the latest Emulations are posted or the latest Mega Synths are discussed and the Charity Auction is done it does appear to be the case! ! Every one seems to own Everything buy the end of the year!

I can assure you, this is not the case.

Luxury!
In my day we used to have to beatbox while humming the bassline, whistling a melody, and punching ourselves in the throat until we split our windpipe just right so we could harmonize everything in between. And we had to do it naked in the snow two centuries before we were even born. And our Dad would beat us to death when we got home, even if we were perfect. Especially if we were perfect! Had to have that analog imperfection you know.

So many new plugins..... I rather want new versions of OLD plugins,

This is especially effective given 'the golden rule' - "thou shalt have only one desert island synth" :uhuhuh:
