Not true. I added the CA-2A to my account before I discovered that I could get the Propellerhead RE version as a choice. I wrote support to see if I could 'trade' my license since I wanted it in RE more than VST and I had not installed or authorized it yet. Within 12 hours, they had me set up after I provided my username and email address for my Propellerhead's account. They said it would take a few days to show up as they were doing them in batches.

I got to give them major props for this. They were responsive, pleasant, and easily worked this out for me. Give them a shout and I bet they will do the same. :tu:

. . . and back to the sound of this thing - pretty darn good. I typically put LIVE version of Glue on the master bus but last night, inserted the CA-2A in place with the "limiter" mode and it seemed to glue even better than the Glue. Mucho thanks for CW for making this plug available. I really dig it !
expert only on what it feels like to be me

Just found out that Cakewalk is giving away for free their plugin emulation of LA-2A.
Here is the link.

Enjoy!

LE: Now I wonder how is this compared to Waves CLA-2A?
Thank you so much

Thanks, good to know. I'm not sure I am quite willing to trade the VST for the RE though.
I have Sonar, so it nicely rounds out the pro-channel thing for me as well.

In Reason, I am pretty happy with using the McDSP comp/eq bundles anyway.

What I really want is both heh... :D

Well, it looks like Cakewalk has allowed me to have both. I have the RE in my account at Propellerheads and the VST is still in my account at Cakewalk. If so, that was mighty generous of them. :tu:

^No, it's not.

I don't believe people don't read carefully before comment.

According to the INSTRUCTIONS on Cakewalk's site and the email they sent me, you have to install their manager. What did I miss? Is there some microscopic text somewhere I haven't read?

There's an offline activation available without needing to install the Command Centre thingie. IIRc you need to create an account to see that option.

Thank you. I already have an account with Cakewalk, so that should not be a problem. I see no mention of this in the instructions they sent.

EDIT: Yup. The registration info is in my account. Thanks for pointing me to look there. Cakewalk didn't. No sign of the Reason Rack Extension in my Prop account.

If your account emails match, and you selected Reason as your daw, it should have been sent to you. If not, contact support. Frankly, and I'm going to give Cakewalk props here, their support went beyond exemplary. I mean that. If you aren't getting support from Cakewalk it's because you haven't asked. For me, they have set a benchmark with respect to support that few vendors have matched. I'm not going into details, that's none of anyone's business, but, I have newfound respect for them on that front even if I'm not interested in their primary product.

+1 on Cakewalk support :tu:
