Well, let's not forget that Serum with 189 € + VAT probably, is quite on the pricey side too.keel wrote:HahahahMirko R. wrote:For me there is no reason for a discussion. 10% more cash for 100% more power. I think this deal is not very bad.keel wrote:HahahahMirko R. wrote:For me there is no reason for a discussion. RAPID is not only the winner,... I love the way people think that 200 plus dollars is way too much for a synth plugin. Baffling. Maybe the day will come when the government passes the "Affordable Plugins Act" for those people, but for now...

That isn't what people are saying. I've paid as much as $500 for a synth plugin. It is not the absolute price that is the problem. It is the price relative to what else you can buy for the SAME price.Orbit-50 wrote:I love the way people think that 200 plus dollars is way too much for a synth plugin. Baffling. A 2017 Lexus IS goes for over $37,000.
A 2017 Hyundai Elantra goes for around $17,000.
You would not spend $37,000 for a Hyundai Elantra. It is simply not the same quality car as a Lexus IS.
Now we can debate over how much a particular VSTi is worth, but the point is, some people do not feel that this plugin is worth what it would cost to get, oh, say something like Zebra 2, which goes for $199.
It isn't that they think $200 is too much for a plugin. It's that they think $200 is too much for THIS plugin.
Just so that we're clear so please stop with the hyperbole. Nobody is claiming $200 is too much for a plugin. I'm certainly not. But I only bought this because I was able to get it for $160. I would not have spent $235 for this plugin (after Euro conversion) if that's what it would have cost me. Not with some very key missing features found in all plugins in this price range.

Serum was created by a developer and musician, Steve Duda, with a long history of great customer service and experience in the music business. Serum is a brilliant plugin whose depths I am still exploring after several years. He has a proven track record that I trust. I have no concerns about buying from him, because I know that he prices his products appropriately, and will be in business down the road. I know that life is unpredictable, but I believe my products from Steve will still be useful and available for years to come, regardless of my operating system.

Dude, you've stated your opinion millions of times. I didn't direct it at you. We are all aware of how puffy tail you get about this. When looking at a plugin, I don't give a toss what everything else costs, or does, compared to the plugin I'm looking at. If it's a great plugin, I will buy it. That's it. I'm not going to sit for days contemplating shit like that and stomping my feet complaining on public forums about it. You either buy it for what the developer asks, or you don't. One can state their opinion, but my point is that it's laughable when people keep crying about it's price and comparing it to other plugins features vs price over and over and over and over. It was the same crap with Nexus. It gets tired.[/quote]wagtunes wrote:That isn't what people are saying. I've paid as much as $500 for a synth plugin. Serum is the winner. It doesn't matter if Rapid can have up to 8 layers. I can easily do this with my DAW that's what it is for. So to me this is clearly not a criteria. Rapid sounds too harsh at high frequencies. I think it is also pushing these a lot. Serums GUI is far more pleasant to my eyes and the workflow is different.
Rapid may get WT import or may get MS import or may get an mac version or may get other future features. But the point is it doesn't have it by now. The dev could promise you everything to make more sales, it doesn't matter. It even doesn't have a manual or documentation. So it is way overpriced.
And some special chosen users got a discount which I think is pretty unfair. So I'm not going to invest money into a company that wants me beg for everything
Btw I can't wait for a thread like Rapid vs. Avenger. Because I think we've also got a winner there. And it's Avenger by far

Mind there are people in the world who can't afford to buy everything they look at.When looking at a plugin, I don't give a toss what everything else costs, or does, compared to the plugin I'm looking at. If it's a great plugin, I will buy it
There are also those who do, but end up with hundreds of plugins they don't have time to use.

It's the truth. In my case, I make the time, but I end up zeroing on a few, and forget all of the other stuff.DJ Warmonger wrote:There are also those who do, but end up with hundreds of plugins they don't have time to use.

"Dude" all I was doing was correcting your statement as being false. People are not complaining that $200 is too much for a plugin. They are saying it is too much for THIS plugin.
And good for you that you'll buy a plugin regardless of its price.
Not all of us are so easy going with our money.
