For the most part, no. You can use them for fifteen minutes while player is in "demo" mode. Wait for Komplete to go on sale and buy it. Kontakt and Reaktor are pretty much essential tools if you want to engage the weirdness these days. This is even more true since Reaktor 6 came out.

ZapZorn has some interesting stuff. Their prices are higher than some of the other vendors mentioned here, but they have good, flexible instruments.
This space has been unintentionally left blank.

Thanks man, I'm not judging too much on price at this point. Sure, it's more fun when they're dirt cheap, but I want to see the breadth of expression that people have achieved through my, admittedly biased, lens of "character."

That said, there is some correlation between the libraries that I find interesting and those that are fairly inexpensive.

On a side note, samplism, woot!

Yes, but I don't know of them, so if many people contribute, we get a nice summary thread.
Thanks, knew about rhythmicrobot. In fact, maybe I will update the top post to maintain a list with links.

Big fan of the Hollow Sun stuff as well as many of the others mentioned (and some new ones to check out there too, thanks all).

Also, these guys do some great stuff, and there's even a (slightly ridiculous!) new freebie currently available..
