I'll stick with ArcSyn here. Form is fun but I keep forgetting I even have it.

Repro-1 is quite an achievement and gets a lot of respect from me, I'm just not in the market for what it does.

I think Form is amazing too but takes time to coax. Huge potential there...

TBH, i wouldn't expect that from many companies anyway, actually from the least, if even. I don't know where that "shill" thing hails from, IMO, it's an imagination by people who can't understand that there's people who are excited about certain products. Or that there are people who are even personally involved with, or in the company, thus are a bit biased, or, simply, convinced by the prdoucts.

That said, i think .jon is totally entitled to his opinion too. I wasn't too impressed with Repro-1 either, but i rather think that the Prophet synths are not my cup of tea in general anyway. I never really listened to a sound demo of one where i was like "WOW, that's the sh**!". But, generally, i do also think that Native Instruments does one hell of a job with analog modelling, Monark is pretty great, as is the latest Reaktor stuff. At the very least, there's some healthy competition in that regard, not the monoculture that some people, especially here, want to see in that area.

The shill accusation was triggered by "innovation" which is completely dishonest bullshit when talking about a basic emulation. It's clearly not something anyone would claim, unless it reads in his/her/bots astroturfing assignment brief.

My opinion of the synth is just my heavily biased opinion (I'm passionate about the topic of emulations, they are the bane of the industry) and I don't expect many to agree with my assessment of Repro-1, it was mostly provoked by the blatant commercial "user post" by a paid shill.

I don't agree with your opinion. It's not a basic emulation. There is a lot of efforts has been put into this synth. It has a character that is very hard to find in other synths. The only drawback is the CPU usage which according to Urs, they are working on it.

If Predator 2 is slightly more interesting than Predator 1, then for me it will be the synth of the year sharing this position with Avenger, although there are other great synths like Icarus and Rapid.

ArcSyn is the only synth released this year for which I couldn't find any con worth discussing.
The only con it had was its atrocious skin at the start.

Yes, noticed the new one earlier today, looks much better, although I am not sure it is more ergonomic.

What I like is the big value readout in the center of the GUI. That developer really thinks about what he is doing. Often value readouts are tiny and in a corner, so the eyes have to wander a lot.

And that's fine. Yet, imagine you have a Commodore 64 emulator for PC. But you never owned a Commodore 64, yet you claim that that is "the best emulator i've ever played". Well, how could tell, if you merely know a C64 from hearsay. Again, nothing against you, or anything. I've heard this a lot here lately, also with Legend, from people who never even had a Minimoog. Why not just say "the best synths i've ever heard", or something, which doesn't imply that you're talking about the quality and detail of emulation itself. And, yes, i know that the devs and guys who worked with them say that they are the best emulations they ever heard. I wouldn't expect anything else, unless they felt like they did a bad job with them.

I can't tell if an emulation sounds great or not unless I have the hardware?!! Come on man! Why the hate for u-he and synapse audio? They are great developers with great products
