Since having owned Arturia Prophet V (currently at v3) since around 10 years and also having used and already bought U-He Repro-1 as alraedy mentioned eaelier here for me it was obvious to try reprogramming Prophet 5 presets with Repro-1. I tried this no matter if Urs and others said replicating Prophet 5 patches there would maybe not really work...

Here is a download for 39 Repro-1 patches based on the original Prophet 5 presets which itself are based on the presets included in Arturia Prophet V3 (and earlier versions):
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... 1.2016.zip

Included are also some corrections and/or modifications based on the original patch sheets included in the Prophet 5 Rev 3.3 manual, an original Sysex file loaded in Prophet V2 and also audio demos of a real Prophet 5 found at Synthmania.
Link at Sythmania: http://www.synthmania.com/Prophet-5%20(Rev.3).htm

The Repro-1 are not fully optimized using those audio demos but were reprogrammed with direct comparison to teh presets in Arturia Prophet V3 (including testing corrections and modifications added there before transferring those to Repro-1). Overall most of the Arturia V3 presets i compared to the audio demos seemed to fit quite nicely.

Some of the patchces originally used an Unison so they could not be 100% replicated in Repro-1. Those are still included but without Unison. The patches are: "P5 Uni Glide With Res", "P5 Alien", "P5 Noise Sweep" and "P5 Helicopter".
The last 3 of those were also patches that overall were more difficult to replicate. another one was "Clangerous Bells". Overall patches that use Noise or more extreme settings like FM and/or filter FM were more diffucult to replicate.

Anyway also as this was my first aproach to those presets within Repro-1 the result is overall quite good and many of the reprogrammed pathces seem to match the original patches quite nicely. Actually i was able to get closer than i expected at the beginning.
Besides that Repro-1 adds a bit of it's own character which is not a bad thing IMO.

You can kind of emulate unison with the help of the Lyrebird effect, set it to chorus and clean for instance, time and regen to zero, mix to 12 o'clock, and the two sliders to echo and max. Just play around, maybe there are better settings :)

I'm a clueless outsider when it comes to old hardware synths,
so I might 'wonder' how many Pro One's were made,
used in commercial productions, are still in use today etc,
yet that knowledge would not affect my desire/need
to own Repro-1, or similar products.

If an instrument is affordable, has great sounds,
works in linux, or is good enough to justify keeping
a windows installation on life support,
then it's in danger of being purchased.
All the U-he products fit those requirements.

If I played in a cover band, i might need to expand
those requirements, but I suspect doing that would only
strengthen Repro-1's position on the list.
Cheers

You can also do 'real' unison with 2-3 instances... and then (of course) you have complete control over each voice

Or put automation to midi and feed all 3 instances from one master midi track.
Murderous duck!

But you can't save the patch as one and three instances use more CPU :P

That's where track templates can come in handy, for DAWs that have such facility. :)

Damn I want Reaper / Ableton crossover.

Or does requesting a second LFO and a more consistent mod routing implementation constitute "all possible features" in your mind?
Yes in this case second LFO is almost "all possible features".
Repro-1 is emulation of hardware Pro-one which in comparison to modern vsts is one trick pony - but it's cirque du soleil grade trick. If you don't dig it please consider something else -- say modern bread and butter synth that has unlimited modulation options.
I just thought of something... the Pro 1 has a Filter CV in, eh? We could keep authenticity and add a second LFO if it were dedicated to this virtual CV connection. It could be super simple. I'm not saying it needs this to be an awesome synth, but I can't help myself. I love at least 2 LFOs on a mono and I hate to give up one of my VCOs. I love that Moog added this to its Model D reissue. I hope Legend follows.

But, as it stands, you can get an awful lot of movement using the single LFO and effects.

Ableton + Max, Bitwig or Reaper are allowing it without any action from U-he

I would find it better if each effect had a little grip corner with on/off LED instead of those separate red boxes on the left side, whose order does often not correspond to the effect gui order. In other words, one would drag the fx gui's themselves.

And the gained space could be used for some additional feature, like two unison controls

Post

I think implementing an optional sleep mode that stops the processing when the thing isn't playing would make lots of people happy since they are having CPU issues. It could be switchable so you could still get fully authentic response if you wanted.
