Can't help but marvel at how far this DAW has come.. and to think that I paid for my Fruity Loops version 1.2 a long long time ago. It's still going strong.

Took a while to get the loop recording fixed though. Better late than never. :hihi:

I've reported it as a false positive to Avira now, so it should be ok soon.
Thanks

To be fair, all devs treat their customers differently. And vise versa, all customers treat devs differently. If you read comments from other threads, such as Studio One, Reason, Cubase, etc, you will see opinions from both sides.

What you won't see are the devs from Studio One, Reason, Cubase, etc lashing back or trying to shut down communications by labeling people as half empty or worse.

Most companies allow their customers to give their opinions and actually take requests from them, so that "their" software becomes better and more desirable as a whole. It appears that IL takes their own path when it comes to customer relations. Which is perfectly fine, but you have to be willing to accept the consequences of their choice of words and actions.

Now if you're a fanboy or a long time user, it's only obvious there will be 100% support for the company, no matter what they do. But this is the real world and problems and issues exist that need tending to, whether a company likes to admit it or not. Let's not write everyone off for disagreeing and being undeserving of their opinion or worse a bully.

The reason some companies thrive and lead the industry is because they listen to their customer base, treat them like humans and work together to make the product better in a timely manner, without trying to mislead them to increase revenue.

Avira?

As users are saving money on not paying FL Studio upgrades. There should be money left over to purchase some proper pro security software ;)

I'm guessing that's how they get away with their "free updates for life", it's really not "free", they charge for the new plug-ins. I wish that was clear before I purchased, stupid me for thinking everything was included "free" with the "free updates for life" plan.
Please go back and look at what we gave away retrospectively, and for free, lets take FL Studio 12 for example:

FL Studio 12. Fruity Edition: +Automation Clips. Producer: +Sytrus and Maximus. Signature + Newtone, Pitcher, GrossBeat & Harmless.

FL Studio 12.1: 4 x Acoustic Drumkits, a Steinway Piano, VFX Keyboard splitter, XYZ Controller,

FL Studio 12.2: 1650 new percussion samples

FL Studio 12.3: Realtime audio stretching, Razer Chroma plugin,

FL Studio 12.4: FL Studio Mobile.

Transistor Bass is up there as its new and something we would like to sell, yes.

Plus everything else we give for free. We are justifiably proud of what we are doing and it is painful when we see people claiming that we are somehow trying to pull some marketing slight-of-hand on our customers:

I think your perception here is slightly skewed. I have witnessed over the years the fact that Image Line for some weird reason is a magnet for trolls and malcontents who have this strange sense of entitlement for some unknown reason. I can see it getting really tired on their end. You also mention "the real world" as opposed to the fanboy users that are happy using FL? What are the issues that you are having with FL Studio that need tending to? Have you been told to go screw yourself after asking for technical support? Does FL studio not work properly? Is it broken? Are there missing parts? Just ask and I'm sure someone will help fix your problem. It always works out. Give it a shot. I know I have. No one will write you off. Trust me.

Besides many new additions like Performance mode, Patcher, GUI overhaul, 64bit support (yeah what daws besides ableton and bitwig that came along with it what other daws added such feature for free???? or complete GUI overhaul for free???) you shouldnt forget to add Newtone, Pitcher, Gross Beat, Harmless, GMS, Fruity Convolver, Vocodex, Soundgoodsizer that were added in the past years.

I bought FL Studio at version 9 and seing how much has changed its just crazy that i paid only 1 time 7 years ago. http://www.image-line.com/flstudio/history.php

And on top of that Image-Line team actually communicates with customers unlike alot of other companies.

Some people are just bitching about this stuff but praising other companies for adding tiny feature for free.

I think some peoples nature is just to bitch and whine about everything, just critisize and be miserable. :?

Good job Image-Line you should be proud to what you are doing! :tu:

Exactly! But wait a minute. We must be sniveling little fanbois for being appreciative for all they do. We are not living in the real world according to some. Sheesh. :hihi:

God forbid they make a new plugin and charge Money for it .. (*ironic). Image Line must survive to and hopefully thrive, because it's good for the users in the end of the day. Life time free updates would mean updates for Everything that I bought at one Point, which is a good enough deal for me. If I want anything further I should expect to pay for it. A bankrupt Company will not give any support at all or produce any updates what so ever.

Personally I will most likely not buy the new transistor bass plug but I did get the transient shaper when it was introduced. I hope there will be more useful, good and interesting plugs developed in the future.

:tu:

P.S I also own Bitwig and I like it. Just wanted to mention that Before anyone pull the fanboy card on me D.S :hihi:

Wait, FL Studio doesn't charge hundreds of dollars for an update? Or, in Logic's case, the full price of the DAW? I bought this back in FL8 and I'm still getting free updates? Their updates actually matter?

FL has as many synths as any other DAW in its signature edition, but there just happen to be extras that you could optionally pay for? I'm getting free samples for no reason? Image-Line said "f**k it" and gave away plugins like Maximus to the editions? In fact, in 6 years, the only thing I've paid for other than the signature edition was Harmor, and in those 6 years, they just happened to release a ridiculously inexpensive synth with a new update? And I'm still sarcastically using question marks because I'm not clever enough to carry this joke all the way through? AND PEOPLE ARE STILL COMPLAINING?

Do you want Jesus to leap out of the step sequencer and give live birth to a baby elephant?

You guys are funny. :hihi:
@ATN69 I have one more "Bitwig Fanboy Card" left and I am exercising my right to cast it upon you! :hihi:

I was watching the basic tutorials for SeamlessR (still watching the 6th one). The features and workflow are amazing especially explained so well by SeamlessR.

I have never done anything with FL Studio! But I hope once I receive the license and unlock it from the demo mode, I'll start doing one piece of music. It seems great for Electronic music (old or modern) and I think it begins to click with me about its workflow.

The demo (12.4) is running with me very well and the CPU usage is great. No problem with my plugins (I use the 64bit only).

After all, I'm glad that I win the producer edition in the charity :D
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I'm jealous because my luck has it, that FL uses a scary amount more CPU than any of my other daws on my system. I don't know why. I sniffed around and sniffed around and could not find out why. It's the reason I quickly learned how to use Edison so I can render stuff. I gave up troubleshooting because it's one of those things thatI did not want to find myself chasing my tail to figure out. Other than that, it runs very well for me.

CPU usage in FL isn't great at all!
I guess they can try to get rid of their PPQ implementation and swap it with a new one, that should bring down CPU usage quite a bit...I guess

...and then there is the way that FL is handling graphics... Just closing the mixer window (not with an empty project with no playback lol :P ) and not having a precise time indicator in the playlist saves quite a bit of CPU

Going to settings-general and disabling 'ultrasmooth' and 'force refreshes' brings down CPU usage even more...

Still, it currently is the most CPU hungry DAW I worked with! :(

Thank God for the smart disable for all plugins, otherwise I won't be able to do any serious work... (For reference, I currently have a i5-4570 @ 3,20GHz ...so yeah, it's not the worst CPU out there)

Anyway, I think that Image-Line should closely study how professionals are using different DAWs for at least half a year (except FL of course) and then focus on the important things cause at the moment, they seem to be missing the important things pretty much as I noticed.

These being said, FL is great for production but very bad for pro mixing at the moment!
