What a stupid price for software distortion! That's like 1/3 of the price of Elektrons Analog Heat and no software I ever heard comes close to that....bungle wrote:£249 hahahahaha, some of these guys live outside reality

Heavyocity products mainly aim at the professional market, their products are bought by people who don't really care about the price tag.bungle wrote:£249 hahahahaha, some of these guys live outside reality
This thing has some nice looks, but I'm sure I get similar (or even better) results if I stack some of my plugins in an Ableton rack, with macros and all that (to rebuild the 'punisher' button). Takes more time though, but is more fun also.

Did see Audio Deluxe is selling at the $199 introductory price less a 15% holiday discount. Still expensive, but puts the overall discount (intro plus holiday) at 35% - which helps a bit.

I don't want to doubt the quality of the plugin, I'm sure it sounds great. I just wonder why (even) the pros would actually go for it anyways. Those people already have tons of compressors, saturators, transient designers, and eqs. There's absolutely nothing ground-breaking (or even new) in here, everything has been there a thousand times before. Plus the tools the pros already have probably give them much more control over their sound than the macro-esque controls of Punish. So unless you're a pro user AND a die hard fan of Heavyocity's - why bother with this in the first place? The only thing I could think of would be workflow enhancement. But then again this plugin isn't that flexible enough to be your one-stop-solution, is it?2ZrgE wrote:Heavyocity products mainly aim at the professional market, their products are bought by people who don't really care about the price tag.bungle wrote:£249 hahahahaha, some of these guys live outside reality

Yeah... if I'd professionally ran a studio the first thing I would need is a plugin called "Punisher" that looks like a snake eye from a vendor called "Heavyocity" - it's not like their target audience is rather lower class wannabes who just mugged the nice old lady from across the street to get the money for it...

Yeah I'm with some of you guys. It's actually quite expensive for what it does. It does look both cool and fun though, I must admit. Love the UI.
If it were cheaper o might just pick it up. Although I do have too many plugins that could fill in the role of this.

How's it expensive? 249 £ would be an average price for pro plugin. You won't find a cheaper plugin from UAD for example.

I think a key factor to consider in the software world- is reputation! Spending that type of money on a company whose future isn't particularly certain should be a part of your purchase decisions-Pro or not. On the flip side...people spend more than that on booze and restaurants. These things are temporary...so I dunno.robotmonkey wrote:How's it expensive? 249 £ would be an average price for pro plugin. I demoed it for the heck of it, it actually sounds pretty good.
It seems very cpu efficient as well, except when loading. Seems like
that fancy knob takes more resources than anything. Might just be
the Ilok though. Also very slim on presets, which seems kinda
contrary to the whole idea of it imo.
Anyway, interesting but yeah... I personally don't see it being worth
the entry fee. Maybe a useful tool for DJ's, dunno.
