I'd also vote for Wavelab. I dropped it when I moved to Mac (as their first release was buggy as hell... but hopefully its gotten better). For PC, it was the fastest and easiest to use audio editor. There's also a good chance as thejonsolo mentioned, Elements 9 would be sufficient. Last I checked the specs (on Elements), it was a rock solid editor for an amazing price.thejonsolo wrote:Do you have Adobe CC? I do not know if the new Audition has any additional features. I have CC but rarely use Audition (more the Premiere Pro/After Effects kind of guy).
Wavelab gets my vote. I actually have Elements 9 and it is great and does what it needs to do for me.

That was missing from Wavosaur, they added custom shortcuts in last update, but not for everything. I need to check on Ocenaudio.resistent wrote:ocenaudio for the feature (among others) to define own shortcuts for almost every task

+1 for Ocenaudio.
Another very good, no frills editor is Acon Digital's Aucoustica which has a free basic version.

I use Acoustica (free), it's ok and does what I need, but haven't really compared it to other options besides Audacity, which didn't work on my PC.

Ok, I did a little random testing of Acoustica Basic, Ocenaudio and Wavosaur and have to say that the Windows 95-styled Wavosaur was a pretty clear winner. Ocenaudio the nicest for very simple tasks due to it's clean, modern interface and usability, while Acoustica Basic felt quite crude compared to both and has to go.

I got Cyberlink PowerDirector video editing software about a year ago and with it got AudioDirector.
I now use AudioDirector as my audio editing solution. It does conversions of format, has built in iZotope restoration tools, can host VST effects, and syncs with video as well.
It is on sale now and I highly recommend it.

(free and easy).
Though I use it to sample stuff from movies, internet.. Occasionally I tidy some samples with it and of course make some custom waveforms.

Sorry guys, I somehow didn't figure that I had to mention that it needs to be multi-track.
Wavelab seems to be a great option, but the Elements version seems to be limited to 3 tracks max if I understand correctly - which is not enough.
What other options are there?

I think Audition is one of the most powerful but it's annoying that you can only rent it now (and the pricing structure for Adobe Creative Cloud is ludicrous)seamoss wrote:I have always loved Cool Edit Pro/Audition.
I don't have the latest version but for me nothing has come close to Audition.
