Best modern audio editor? Your call

I got Cyberlink PowerDirector video editing software about a year ago and with it got AudioDirector.

I now use AudioDirector as my audio editing solution. It does conversions of format, has built in iZotope restoration tools, can host VST effects, and syncs with video as well.

It is on sale now and I highly recommend it.

I'm definitely interested in this. What kind of copy protection does it use?

This also looks interesting. It's mac only, yes? That's not a deal breaker for me, I will maintain mac and pc audio machines probably forever. What does it use for copy protection?

I have always loved Cool Edit Pro/Audition.

I don't have the latest version but for me nothing has come close to Audition.

I think Audition is one of the most powerful but it's annoying that you can only rent it now (and the pricing structure for Adobe Creative Cloud is ludicrous)

I love using it at work and was going to buy it for myself but then they went all rental and I went 'nah'.

(On a Mac for economical I'd recommend Twisted Wave but I realise that won't help OP)

Don't look for deep editing abilities with AudioDirector, like slicing or exporting regions for example. It can be used standalone-but-It's mainly a companion for PowerDirector. PD doesn't have on-board audio editing other than volume. The process is done externally, then imported back.

Thanks. I'm trying to decide what is best going to fit my needs. On the one hand, I like having the spectral editing, I don't have anything that does that. I also don't like any of the tools that I have on windows for video editing so it seems like a decent companion. I'm trying to use Reaper for some kinds of sample editing. I have a bunch of editors and it always seems like I'm switching between them.

Serial license file. Very easy.

Serial # with registration on the site. That's it. Nothing else is installed or needed.

I have been very pleasantly surprised by its power and versatility. And yes, it is multi-track as well.

True, those functions are not native, however, it fully supports VST's so VICE or Poise work easily within it.
