I'm staying with FLS 12 with high performance enabled :)

FLS 11 is cute (I liked the old graphic), but version 12 for me as a new comer seems better in everything. Version 12 also has easier to guess workflow and bigger interface/fonts to read. I think FLS 12 is a winner if there is no major let down in Midi or Audio functionality.

Ok, let's try to finish song No. 12342312321 now :hihi:
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

FL Studio using slightly more CPU than some other DAW's is not something new and it doesn't even have anything to do with vectorial GUI.
FLS has been like that....forever.
This caught my attention when Reaper came out. People behind Reaper were the ones who created Winamp and that's the reason why Reaper is skinnable, like Winamp was and naturally I was excited to try it out, I downloaded it to test it and noticed that some plugins were using 5-15% less CPU. This was a long, long time ago and it's like that nowadays too.
Of course, I wouldn't use DAW with Excel spreadsheet look alike Piano Roll even if my life dependent on it because I don't use a baseball to write, I use pencil and whoever the f...k makes a DAW with a 20th century Piano Roll is a moron, end of story.
I use Reaper for recording stuff, but to use it for composing music - no way.

Regarding criticism of FL Studio...
I use FL Studio since version 4.10. People were spitting on Fruity Loops for years, how it's a toy, how it has a bad sound engine, etc. This wasn't only about insulting developers, but users as well, trying to put you down and discredit you.
The last time I talked in person with FL critics was in 2004 when 4.5 version came out, Cubase and ProTools users.
They started dissing me because I use a toy, how I should switch to professional DAW. So, argue has started and in the end it became evident that those people didn't even know what compressor is. Literally.

What happened is that they all started with Fruity Loops, then they visited some forums where other clueless idiots criticized Fruity Loops for having a bad sound engine. So they switched to Cubase and ProTools to get a professional sound.
Practically, they blamed Fruity Loops for their amateurish sound because they had NO idea whatsoever what compressor and compression are. They couldn't recreate professional sound they heard from other artists and guess who's to blame: Fruity Loops, a toy.
Those same morons called themselves producers and since that night I started despising the word "producer" and got allergic hearing it, when people who use computers to make music call themselves like that.
I also started avoiding ANY discussions regarding DAW's and comparisons between them because I know that there are a lot of idiots who don't even know the very basics but spit their opinions left and right.

It always amazes me the 'producer-musician' community. Who prize creativity, diversity and originality, above most other things. Commonly seek to deride and bully anyone who is not using a Mac running Logic, Cubase or Live.

BTW: Regardless of what you may read in comment sections, FL Studio is doing year-on-year better than ever. We think the 19 years of free updates kicked in 5 or 6 years ago (where there is a marked change of slope in the growth curve). People finally got the message (en masse) that FL Studio is here to stay, the free updates are real and we are developing it as fast as we can.

andy4trance wrote:My experience is that cpu is affected by these liquid graphics more than in pre FL12.
For example when I bring the CPU towards its limit, only dragging, resizing, zooming in the vectorial windows generate audio crackles. So I'm guessing that at that point audio processing effort of the CPU is being reallocated to video.
Nevertheless the workflow improvements of fl12 keep me away from downgrading.

And I second to the above requests on audio work feature improvements.
But that happens in reason too sometimes, and this is the only version of FL that it doesn't.

It's a free-for-all :hihi:

Ah hosts, totally necessary, absolutely imperfect in every way

It's getting better with me :D It seems I found a solution to Reaktor 6 by checking in the options (of Reaktor) to use fixed buffer. Now it's no longer shows the red line and works similar to other DAWs :) I also don't use the high performance power option! It's running fine and stable here and I couldn't crash it for many hours of usage.

There are few things remained to figure out like recording my external synth and using arpeggiator like blueArp, but I think soon I'll find out ;)

Yes.

Is there an official FL Studio program for Mac OS X / macOS?

Which DAW can best host FLS 12 (soon V13) as a VSTi?

Can any of these DAW’s below allow drag and drop or copy and paste audio and midi file to and from FLS? What other compatibility issues should one be concerned about when using FLS as a VSTi?

Cubase 8.5 soon V9
Studio One 3
Sonar Platinum
Reaper 5
Hollyhock 2 soon V3
Bitwig soon V2
Mulab
Samplitude

Will it help any if FLS is opened in Patcher?

I haven't tried it as a VSTi or if I did I forgot (I'll check later) but I use rewire with FL in Samp Pro X2 and it works great
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Thanks. I saw it already ;) My question was about official non-alpha-beta release for Mac OS.

The first sentence says: This means we have a working native OS X / macOS version but it's under heavy development, but should be in beta sometime 2016 ...

We are very close to Beta release. There are a few components, like DirectWave OS X that we are waiting to be completed. If we miss Beta by 2016, it should not extend too far into the new year.

That means a final release is scheduled for 2017.

And if you have a FL Studio license you can use it now.

We have ~ 110K people download it so far for testing.

I prefer to use FLS as a VSTi over rewire.
I hope to find the DAW that is most compatible with FLS. The DAW to allow drag and drop or copy and paste audio and midi files to and from FLS.
