I have Phobos II. Like it quite well and use it sporadically. Great for layers with other Kontakt Instruments as well as by itself.
I think I have more interest in their own synths than the emulations; although the one I often ponder is the VS engine. Which is more of a statement of my own reminiscent history than anything and eventually becomes the reason I never pull the trigger on it.

Poly 61's do have a raw sound to them because of the DCO's which do have a raw, 'dirty' sound to them.
I can assure you nothing is muffled and the collection of sounds in Phon 61 are a good all round representation of the raw DCO waveforms and sounds that can be made on a Poly 61.

Not sure subscriptions work with Kontakt instruments, I'm sure some other Kontakt dev tried it and it did not get enough interest. Plus there would have to be agreed a number of main Kontakt instruments that would be created and made available - I'm assuming it would need 6 main instruments in a year . This year I managed 4 main instruments (J4 with Rob from Tronsonic, PE3000, Exploration I and Phon 61) also had a mini magic out(plus the bonus 8/S and Logan).
Plus there are updates I am chomping at the bit to get out but can't due to synth being broken ie Quadra.

Speaking of Quadra, I just found out the engineer, who has said to me for the past few months that he has been working on my Quadra has, in actual fact not been honest with me (by his own admission)and has not even touched it( I kept having visions of the Monty Python cheese shop sketch 'not much of a synth repair shop really is it' ). Also, he dropped the bombshell that it has now had 9 or 11 sliders snapped off it by people moving his workshop....I'm not best pleased with him I can tell you. I have babied that Quadra for over 10 years and now it has most sliders snapped off it and god knows what the front panel is like because paint can fall off a Quadra just by looking at it. Getting it back off him on Monday although I have been trying to get it off him for months. He deserves a large garden gnome to be inserted into him.

Nice demo ... I miss my old Poly61. Had to sell it when I was skint. The only synth I regret parting with.

I can imagine the feeling. I'm surprised he still lives...

Just sold mine, too - Good synth, but not built too well - and whoever the engineer was who decided to put the battery (that leaks after ten years) on the main cpu board should be birched .

Always check to see if the battery move has been done when buying a Poly 61.

No offense taken

The poly 61 does have a gritty sound to it in a fizzy, dirty electronic kind of way - not sure how to describe it, but it does have a sound all of its own.

He said he is going to replace the sliders and providing the front panel has not been damaged I will be ok with it, but why he did not move the Quadra to his new workshop himself is beyond me. There is no way I would let a removal company move my synths.
No wonder he has been ducking and diving me for the past few months.
I just have this horrible feeling that is has been absolutely battered.

Mine was OK when I had it, but I know it later lost it's preset memory when the battery died. I had warned the guy who bought it that he should get it checked.

Synth Magic synths are always excellent. I have them all and will purchase Phon 61 as soon as it's available.

I had a Poly 61 from new and it did have quite a harsh sound. The Oscillators were DCO's to give more stability. The big plus over the Poly 6 though was the extra oscillator per voice so it sounded fatter.

Really looking forward to getting my hands on the Phon 61.

Very sad about the Quadra, Steve. Hope it gets sorted soon.

just ordered Phon 61 in the pre-sale. It's funny as I had a thread up before about how I ignore pre-sales like the plague. but synth magic does one, and i'm all over it. now to make it through until the 21st.

More than one year ago I bought a Kontakt 5, now I have a lot of libraries from different manufacturers.
Unfortunately, I don't hear about Synth Magic until this week, when I'm looking for any Oberheim library over an Internet. And voilà - got an OB! It's amazing. Amazingly sounding and perfectly scripted, this library has also a beautiful GUI (one of the best I've ever seen within Kontakt).
So, I can't stop now and bought due pre-order a Polycom. I'm rarely can't wait for software releases, but surely, it would be an awesome thing!

Thanks Steve for an instruments!
