40 seconds or so not long enough? Just crank up the size to max, decay knob to max and use two Decay EQ shelves at 200%. That's pretty long imho. Or do you need even longer reverbs?

A "freeze" feature would indeed be really cool considering how clean the output is.

Sometimes not...and i don't want to freeze it.
Aether goes up to 120 seconds f.e. Of course not always needed.
But you also can generate room sizes of up to 625 meters in B2. Then those reverbs offers much more parameters for sound design and shaping etc.
I like Fabfilter Pro-R really but it's just too "simple" for me compared to those reverb monsters.

Aether is my main reverb and have used it very happily for years now. But I've never really got to grips with its many parameters. Pro-R really appeals to me for its simplicity. If the sound quality is equivalent then the possibility of really mastering Pro-R makes it very appealing.

I dont have all the top of the line reverbs so maybe Im in the dark here, but for me this is all about that blue line. Nothing I have quite does what that blue line does, and that yellow line saves me work Im already sometimes doing with extra processing, so I am probably in eventually..
Definitely waaaay easier with a discount. Reg price is high, at first glance anyway.

What does automating the blue line do?

Testing Fabfilter Pro-R with a (looped) bass flute solo from my chamber music composition Immanenz, tweaking the reverb on the fly, also fading out the original signal so you only hear the 100% wet signal. The Distance parameter is really producing nice spatial results...

A little fun and experimentation.
One thing Pro-R does very well, due to its built in equalizers, is allow for automation of the frequencies.

This can result in some interesting tonalities.
Great effect! Instantly reminds me of old sci-fi movies (which I love). Seems a shame now that it doesn't have one of FF's standard modulation panels along the bottom to push LFOs onto the core controls.
I was thinking the exact same thing !!!!

That is seriously cool, what DAW did you do the automation in?

Apparently they feel Pros only modulate stuff externally.
Still, no doubt I'll pick it up, even if "mostly" due to the Fab factor
(and a healthy discount).

Have a Q about it.
Does it offer control for early and tail separately?
Well, it does not let you eq early rf separately but you have separate control over reverb tail, signal pre and post reverb and delay.
No signature here!

Was sad to find Exponential Audio Nimbus Reverb was hardware iLok only, so looks like this'll fit my algo reverb slot perfeck-ly. Has anyone been able to compare the two head-to-head - It was the tail of Nimbus' reverb tail that seemed so awe-inspiring.

No, they are very different beasts. This is an alternative to traditional algorithmic reverbs, Adaptiverb is something entirely different :)
cheers for sharing your view. much appreciated

Finally demoed Pro-R.

The CPU usage is too much for me (almost the same as Breeze and more than 3 times than VVV or VPlate). But with the 2CAudio offering one can disable the modulation and switch to Lo for Density and Diffusion, which makes it use the same CPU as the Valhallas.

The GUI is cool to look at, but I didn't enjoy that much working with it.

The sound is comparable with the ones above, not worse or better (at least to my e@rs).

All in all, not an essential purchase for me. Not sure I'll jump on it even with an additional 25% off...

I actually wish they made a creative reverb, with all those modulators available and stuff...

Pretty creative if you ask me. Quite interesting EQ-on-Decay. Not CPU-hungry over here. Already doing wonders on vocals. Between FabFilter Pro-R and Zynaptiq Adaptiverb I'm set.
