It appears Absynth has been abandoned, apart from any maintenance updates. Given how powerful it appears to be(I never use it as the GUI makes it rather unapproachable to myself) it's a shame it doesn't get some love from NI.

Good luck with that. IMO, NI is focused on business, not products and users.

Sorry to say, that it seems no new Absynth, FM8,Massive will come.
Ni is updating Reaktor based and Kontakt based stuff.
These 3 NI synth is quite good, but the new generation of synths (Repro, Diva, Avenger, etc...) are better in many ways,
NI can't compete with Serum or synths like Falcon,Rapid,Dune2 or Avenger.
More annoying that the existing bugs also stay ?forever?,
for example FM8 64bit version has a dumb bug with the arpeggiator first step..

Been thinking more about this because I want absynth so badly. I have for a long time, but it's unfortunately too small for me to use in any real capacity. They would likely have to build an entire new GUI for absynth as it was built quite a while ago. They would have to start from scratch. Building the GUI is pretty much the hardest part from what I hear and where most of your problems come from. While updating they would want to modernize the algorithms for things like the filters as well and add new samples....it would basically be an entire rebuild from scratch. They would be updating everything and building a new GUI. It would be a massive undertaking TBH. It's not as easy at it sounds... which is really a shame.

Not sure how accurately the number of discussion messages at the forum https://www.native-instruments.com/foru ... te-area.4/ reflect the user base but it looks like Absynth is more popular than Massive and FM8.

My feeling is that the Bigger and Better the Absynth 6 release is the more interest will be generated.

Honestly I always considered Absynth to be the least Popular of the 3...
At least in the mainstream circles. I could be wrong however.

Honestly all 3 of them aren’t what they once were popularity wise.

NI, has abandoned most of the komplete package. It has become all about FX, Reaktor and Kontakt instruments and libraries. When was the last time you seen any updates or version upgrades for Guitar rig or Battery-4? My last upgrade was komplete 9. I have no intentions to bother with future upgrades unless they offer an actual komplete package beyond kontakt libraries, minor FX releases and Reaktor stuff.

What about a battery5? 4 versions in, and still no audio slicing. Groove Agent-4, has far more features and cost $20 less if you already have an elicenser. It may be time to rename the product to komplete NKS Kontrol!
