I hope this will be a fun topic:

What Artists, Albums, or Tunes do you secretly love, but might not admit anywhere but in an "anonymous" forum on the Internet? And if you're already sharing, maybe tell why you love them, too.

Please, no bashing.

I'll start:

- Michael McDonald - Doobie Brothers - Minute by Minute (album). I really liked his voice and e-piano work on that album.
- Jackson Browne - Most of his stuff is sappy poetry set in catchy tunes.
- Jame Taylor - Most of his stuff is also sappy poetry set in catchy tunes.
- Thomas Dolby - Love his studio work on Blinded by Science, Rare Earth, Aliens Ate My Buick. Musically, he was quite innovative for the time. Hate the live stuff I've heard.
- The Fixx - Shuttered Room (album). Love that guy's voice and the haunting music.
- Ben Folds - Ben Folds Live (album). Simple piano with lyrics that'll make you both laugh and cry.
- Hall & Oates - Can't really say why, I just like most of their stuff.

That's all that comes to mind for me, at the moment, might add more later.

Looking forward to seeing your hidden stash. :phones:
Gaslighting...is a form of mental abuse in which information is twisted or spun, selectively omitted to favor the abuser, or false information is presented with the intent of making victims doubt their own memory, perception, and sanity.

My guilty pleasure is listening/watching Voice blind audition compilations on youtube, I start eyes closed and only open them after deciding whether the person can sing or not.

I can like the odd tune by Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones and the Beatles

I find that emabarrasing, espcially the Rolling Stones, they are the bottom of the barrel.

10-20 years ago I could list many, now I can't because I don't really care if my musical taste fits someone expectations or not so I'm talking loud about what I like.

Being heavy rock/metal guy it was always faux pas among people from my 'scene' to mention that I like Modern Talking or 90's Eurodance (Captain Jack, Mr. President, DJ Bobo etc) but meh, whatever, I like it what can I do :)

Also, I'm sucker for most cheesy 80's movies and tunes, the cheesier the better.

Post

I'm a sucker for what I would describe as "soft hits of the 60s, 70s, and 80s". I'm also quite fond of the cheesy pop music I grew up with in the 80s, and a lot of 70s classic rock.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Kim Wilde - “Here Come the Aliens” is not only full of hooky pop, but the production sounds better than anything I’ve heard on my car stereo from contemporary productions. Too, ever since her first album - and seeing photos of her, she made me and still makes me feel woozy - and I was a Ramones/Sex Pistols guy.

The original 'Jesus Christ Superstar' with Ian Gillan and Murray Head as Jesus and Judas.

Slayer and Cannibal Corpse (the early albums with Chris Barnes).

Not that I listen to that music much... it's more of a "I'm pissed off and have nothing but hate for the world and the people in it" music that I occasionally listen to for a couple of minutes, and then get bored by the always same-ish evil negativity of the music. :) (The "So what?" album from SFA is very good for such moments as well...)

Other than that, Rihanna. Yes, I know. But, that's such a beautiful voice that it makes the music bearable. If only it wasn't for that stupid ghetto hooker whatever attitude...

None of these are really guilty pleasures. And I envy your chops if you are calling Ben Folds' piano simple.

"Toxic" by Britney Spears is, though.

Same with "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", although it seems to be starting to be cool now that people realize it's about a serial killer

Trip Shakespeare. Sure one member of the band went on to be a multi Grammy winning songwriter (and it was the one everyone thought was the hanger-on brother), and one of the best pop/rock bass players of the 90s and was a lot of fun so see live, but their recordings were embarrassing.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.
