BTW it is really interesting. I mean votes.
For example
Guenon for his excelent and crazy sounding presets got 1x 1p and 7x 3p.

Jasinski got 1x 1p, 1x 2p, 6x 3p. Again Really? Oh, come on.

Taron got 3x 2p, 6x 3p. No way!

Even z.prime got few 3 pointers.

I think these tracks deserve minmum 4 points even if you dont like style of these tracks to acknowledge their skills. No offense to anyone. I just I dont understand how someone rate and vote in this competition. Dare to explain? Anyone?

There is no standard for scoring. Some people score on production alone, others (it seems) on how good the drums are and what style it is, others for a combination of composition, arranging, sound design and production at various weights, others for how much they "like" the song regardless of the sound design and production, and everyone uses a different curve. The column on the far right shows the "generosity". Some people are very stingy with points and might have only 1 x 5 but lots of 2's and 3's, other people give lots of 4's and 5's.

, and basically not something to get hung up on. One might think some scores aren't objectively justifiable, but the thing is, subjectively it's as easy as saying "meh, I didn't like it" -- and there's nothing one can do about it.

It's of course brought up once in a while. For example, in the Helm round, someone not that familiar with the concept decided to blog the points they were giving, along with a short commentary on how they ended up with those scores. There was some exchange about that afterwards: although the article was a nice gesture, there were scores like... two points for Jasinski's great effort with simulated vocals and skillful polish (which also won the round), and incidentally also two points for my goofy SID emulation / kraut mashup

. The voter had evaluated all tracks based on his taste in music, and hah, that's that.

I have my own subjective take on all of that too, of course, which is: every opinion counts, but as on any specialized field, some opinions are more informed than others. For example, imagine someone random, off the street, who hasn't been dealing with synths and crafting electronic sounds at all, other than generally hearing "some synth sounds" in music. It's understandably difficult to grasp, then, all the qualities that might make an OSC entry special.

So, when I say I aim to surprise (with my tracks), it's part of me being cheeky and part of me being absolutely serious about what I wanted to do. If the end result succeeds in being something different and is respected by the ones I have the highest respect for -- that makes me very happy. And... happy I am

In the case of something as extreme as those 1p scores, if it starts bothering too much, just go listen to the track of the person giving the 1p scores, in turn, and ask yourself while it's playing: "from the point of view of what I hold important while producing, should I worry about the opinion of someone who posted this track?"

WHAT! A COMLPETE OUTRAGE!

man, I think only one guy "he knows who" really ever took my by surprise, when he gave me 1pnt a few months back, which was really a wee bit insulting. But other than that, if all goes well, you won't even look at those breakdowns anymore, because you become fully conscious of the simple joy to have some musical fun together, including the occasional enlightenment about techniques and styles as well as the great push, great artists can provoke!

You guys all spoil me so much (

), I know by now that you don't mind listening to my music, maybe even enjoy it. You all should know that the same goes for you or anyone, who got at least one time 3 points or more. That means you've made someone enjoy! Realize that and just keep focusing on your music!

Even though this is a competition, I think many people participate just for the personal challenge, the fun, and opportunity to learn and communicate with a nice group of people with a similar interest in synth music production. I don't worry much about the scores, although I admit it can be a little irritating when you revive a 1 or 2 for a piece that is not sub-standard.

An outstanding month with Digits2 - it seems to have inspired a lot of musicality. More memorable tunes than the usual OSC imho.
mmghost - well done, almost beat the Grandmaster Z

, so close! and a great track I'll be playing for some time.
bh9090 - glad to see you make the top 5 with your best entry yet!
I have to say Rghvdberg is a big favourite for me. This tune is spinning round my head constantly, got me hooked. And the twisted glitchy bit - wonderful!

Sorry not had time to reply or comment on SC so far this time, but big thanks to those who commented on my (admittedly flawed) effort. I'm encouraged by the good scores it attracted
