In Cubase if you hold solo button a little longer on a track - it becomes solo exempt, meaning it does not solo when you solo something else. It becomes a different color, don't remember which.

So you can use this on buses you know are effect busses etc.

You can try that where appropriate.
Not at my studio computer now, so don't remember how it looks on masterbus.

Sitting in front of Cubase now - I haven't been able to replicate this behaviour at all. And anyway, it doesn't make sense to mute the master if you're soloing something - how're you supposed to hear it?
I can only suggest the usual:
How long has this been happening? After you installed something else?
Rename the preferences file and force Cubase to create a fresh one. Does it still happen?
Does it happen in every project, old as well as new?
Last resort, call Support! :(

This seems to work, but it's still a pain in the arris - you shouldn't need a workaround to solo tracks. (Solo Defeat turns the Solo button orange.)

I don't have that behaviour in Cubendo and I have been using it for over 15 years.
Something in your preference is causing that.
Off to investigate.

I assume you aren't using control room?
and you just solo a track and hear nothing?

Couldn't find a preference, as GS suggests (I think) something is corrupted in your setup.

Is this happened to all projects or one project?
Did you accidentally link/group the master bus with something else?

Thanks for responding Googly Smythe and I agree. It doesn't make sense to mute the master but that was my problem. The master becomes muted when I solo a track (sorry if I wasn't clear).
When I solo a track, everything else mutes including the master so I have to unmute the master in order to hear the soled track.
It's no biggy. I'll figure it out sooner or later. Don't think there's any need to make any major changes but thanks.

Hey zvenx. I'm sure there's something I'm doing or maybe preference somewhere. Thanks for responding. I'll just move on for now until I run into the answer for this behavior. Not stressing on it though.

Thanks alot for all your input guys. This isn't a show stopper so I'm letting it go for now. I'm sue I'll run into the answer and probably when I'm trying to solve a completely different problem. That's how it goes :)

Ok, if you are still stumped you can pm me. If you have a default template for instance, maybe you can create a blank project and send me it and I can send you one from my default template, to help narrow it down.
