so i might wait a few days until rapid vs. avenger shows the differences and sound quality, i hope avenger has a lot of nice low end cripsness like DIVA etc.

rapid vs. avenger shows the differences and sound quality
Fair comment since both synths are a big spend.

For me the tie breaker is about support and longevity, as in:

Will the dev be around in a few years?

Will really good sound designers want to work with it and release soundware?

Will there be annual upgrades, refinements, free extra presets etc?

Will there be interesting videos made about it, or merely the launch video suite?

Stuff like this is what interests me, as I've had too many plugs in the past that got abandoned or sold because the dev never sustained my romance with their plug.

These two will most likely happen. :D

Only speculating of course, but hat's a 4 - 0 for Avenger then, i guess. :P

@manuel
at the very beginning of the thread cpu consumption was enquired by many of us. did you manage to achieve any improvements in this area?

Post

That's my guess too, which is why I'm going to buy it.

Plus Manuel is a first rate musician who can write quickly & well

- so he'd hardly design a synth that didn't fit in with his musicality and way of working.

And I'm interested to see how other designers develop this synth too.

And I'm also interested to see how the drum side of Avenger comes on. Increasingly I've used drums from synth plugs this year to get a special sound, rather than trawl through reams of me-too samples.

(yes, another fanboy post of sorts, but for me these are all real reasons to purchase Avenger compared to quite a few other high quality & noteworthy releases this year)

I'll bet cpu is shit with v1.0, and get easier with later releases.

Most coders seem to follow this path. I can live with this (i hope  )

CPU is relatively low. Nothing to be worried of ;)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

how do you know?

the CPU depends nearly entirely on good or poor preset design
the Designer is mainly responsible. He can make presets with 5% CPU which sound great or Presets which have 100% and sound shit.

I recently went through all the Factory presets again, optimized everything and saved massively CPU on many presets... I reduced presets from 30% to 10%, with clever rerouting, voice limits, etc... so you wont hear any differences in sound

if you have just 1 blanc osc with 7x supersaw, we are around 3%... not bad I would say... and my computer is not the newest on the planet :) (but reliable and completely without fans)

cheers

I have average CPU (i5-4570) and most of the complex presets are in the 10% to 20% usage :)
