Looks and sounds very good for a rock / upbeat style.
Can it also be manipulated to provide a more laid back, but heavy, 1970s Aston Barrett dub reggae bass sound?

I'm very interested in this, and it does look like it's a step forward in comparison to other bass guitar VST's, but the pricing structure has left me feeling frustrated.
If there was a demo available to try out ahead of the release then I could definitely see myself paying the pre-order price, but I'm not willing to take a leap of faith. Unfortunately the punishment for waiting on a demo is that the price will double!! That puts it well out of my reach, so everybody loses.

In my application (heavy metal), a few of the models sound like they'll do a great aggressive tone, particularly the Warwick and Yamaha models.dark water wrote:Looks and sounds very good for a rock / upbeat style.

Do you think that using outboard fx (like taking direct Di signal from a bass) would give you the sound you'r looking for?
Or is that more related to the range, to the tone, or both that Modo Bass as to offer (guessing from demos of course...)?

Peter:
Is there a video where you can see smacking the strings strings to "mute" them?
Like "fingerpick - smack... fingerpick - smack" - think Ben E King's "Stand by Me"
It's also popular with acoustic guitar rhythms.

Both, really. I own a Darkglass B7K and I am interested to see how this sounds with that.nordickvr wrote:Q.xphen0m wrote:In my application (heavy metal), a few of the models sound like they'll do a great aggressive tone, particularly the Warwick and Yamaha models.dark water wrote:Looks and sounds very good for a rock / upbeat style.

I'll say that I'd be pretty curious to hear with what you could come up witch such a set-up.xphen0m wrote:Both, really. You definitely have a great amount of tonal ability (changing and moving pickups, string age/gauge/type, etc) as well as the option to send the DI signal out to an amp sim like AmpliTube in order to get even more tonal options.dark water wrote:Looks and sounds very good for a rock / upbeat style.

Is there any word on how this will handle round robins for fast repeating notes?

It's not sample based so there are no round robins, or any need. A string struck in motion will sound slightly different each time which is built into the physical model.xphen0m wrote:Is there any word on how this will handle round robins for fast repeating notes?

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Glad to see some excitement. I thought we'd stick with the 30th but apparently it was ready to go and you all had waited long enough.
MODO BASS is now available, for anybody who didn't pick it up from the two posts above mine with lots of appreciated exclamation points
