thanks. I'm on Mac, are you? Also, how do you disable the power scheme?EnGee wrote:I think I found the reason (a tiny possibility!). Who knows!igoramos wrote:Having exactly the same experience. It was happening every time I tried to save in Artist and I thought upgrading would fix it. Now, it only happens 1 out of 3 times! Unfortunately, it crashes before saving for me. I googled to see if it was an issue before I upgraded but didn't find it mentioned in any of my searches... At the moment, I save my projects as templates. damned crazy.EnGee wrote:The crashes I'm experiencing when exiting Cubase, doesn't seem to have a relation to Waves instruments or to iLok related software! The crash continues to happen in spite of them, Waves and iLok, being uninstalled. It seems a bug because it happens about one in three times quitting the software.
I will test it again later and see if that solved the crash problem.

Well, one feature is going to be 64 bit only. I'm all for this if it improves stability.

Hi folks
My major concern regarding Cubase is that it is still dependent on Quicktime support to do video.
Adobe Premier Elements 15 released not long ago, removed requirement for quicktime in windows. A few format import and export need it though. I have not needed it getting MOV files from my camera.
Nero Video 2017 has no such requirement of quicktime.
Cakewalk Sonar has no need for Quicktime.
So it seems it's possible - and down to will to do something about it.
And Steinberg has not provided in 7 months a fix for not needing it in their products.
Major fail, as I see it.
Steinberg just refer to that risk is small if you don't install the player, just the basics.
Not good enough - and says a lot about Steinberg. Microsoft made an official announcement deprecating quicktime on windows - and Steinberg ignore it.
I haven't had Quicktime(or anything Apple) on my studio computer so far, and feel it would be better without.
I have the video editors and cameras and equipment I need to do video, but lack ability in Cubase to do the film score to it.
So no Cubase 9 for me unless this is fixed.

Yeah, I don't know man, I can't speak for everyone here, but um, I don't really care. I'm kind of interested in knowing what new features it will have for music production. I know there are some other video dudes here, but a big chunk of us are amateur music makers. Well, in my case it's a stretch to call it "music", per se, but you get the idea.lfm wrote: I have the video editors and cameras and equipment I need to do video, but lack ability in Cubase to do the film score to it.

I hope they fix that for you though
Now back to pointless speculation about new features!!!

I was in contact with support late summer and they had nothing for me.
Been looking daily at their news listings for months - but nothing there either since april.
I was expecting a 8.5.30 or something.

Thanks for kind wishes - but I regret my needs are not top of the list for everybody.ghettosynth wrote:Yeah, I don't know man, I can't speak for everyone here, but um, I don't really care. Some musical ideas that come up don't quite fit in song - so figured would be fun to try out video and make music for that. Nothing goes to waste.
I saw a documentary over twin peaks series and how the theme came about - and composer Angelo Badalamenti way of doing over the phone with maker of the series. He went completely for a feel for environment and dark woods and stuff to do that - just over the phone. A very different approach to start from an image in your head compared to just fooling around making a song.
My wishes for v9, of course pointless to many are:
a) nested folder tracks(with integrated bus) and also visible in mixer Reaper-style
Very easy to keep relevant tracks visible. Previous addition to place buses in folders helped a lot though.
b) Better customization of gui and dialogs
On midi tracks you can get rid of many things in dialog with plugin bays, but you are stuck for audio tracks with big blobs concerning eq and compression whether you use it or not.
c) proper toolbar options for everything in menus.
d) finish the job and remove limitations on importing tracks from other projects.
Track archives have much more options, but still do not allow Instrument Rack stuff with all routing in there. I use as track templates - and are forced to use Instrument Tracks instead.

So strange...I had similar issues. They come and go almost randomly. And to be sure, I generally reboot my computer before starting a session just to clear memory, etc. and make sure nothing is left running that I don't need. I also usually check for updates at the beginning of each week for Windows and plugins just as a precaution.
And for sure, this week, weird shutdowns, error messages related to Maschine (which has not happened before) and sound/MIDI just randomly stop working mid-session while not having any issues with Ableton or FL Studio loading the same plugins.
What I hate the most is that I LOVE Cubase...specifically the workflow. If they would just make it work. I have a very vanilla computer (albeit high specs).
