Hello Attila!
Accidentally I discovered that when imported via drag phrases in midi file (with the button pressed CTRL), the program does not drag the midi file, but I get the file "Rapid Composer Data." Why? Thank you !

Hi lulukom,
the reason is that a phrase is not a MIDI file, it is stored as an internal data format, therefore only RapidComposer can handle the message dropped. The "RapidComposer Data" text is added to the clipboard so that it has some valid contents if the phrase is dropped on another application.
Thanks,
Attila

I am afraid dragging phrases as MIDI file is not yet done
I found no unused Shift/Ctrl/Alt (shift/control/option on OS X) combination that can be used for dragging phrases as MIDI. Maybe the right Ctrl key could be used.

i would vote for this, imho its more logical/expected and user friendly
than the making time selection first.

Hi Attilamusicdevelopments wrote: I am happy that you found the new (very simple) melody generator useful, magicmusic. In fact I also found it very usable. Sometimes it gives better results than the original very complex "Melody Generator".
the random generator is very good, when do a manual edit rythm. i like record with midi in phrase editor a pattern, but i see no function that can create from what i record, a rythm that can add to rythm browser. maybe there is a other way to create from phrases a rythm pattern ?.
what i do not like so good in the melody generator is that it mostly use on every rythm step a diffrent note hight. sometimes note is repeat at same high depend on rythm for me good songs. the random generator do more often repeat same note high

Hi magicmusic,
you are right, it would be good to be able to quickly record a rhythm pattern from MIDI keyboard. It is on the to-do list.
In general in the following major updates RC will become more and more interactive.
Your feedback is important, so a "Repetition" slider will be added to the Random Melody generator for the next beta version.
Thanks,
Attila

Thank you, Richard!
I like to get such feedback
This was just a quick experiment. A much better MG will be developed soon, proposed by Krovatin in another topic. I am really excited about that. I wish I could start working on it right now.

thanks, usefull is too, to be able to extract a ryhthm from a phrase so can use rythm of old songs i do, import midi to a phrase and extract the rythm and save for rythm browser and use them in new RC songs. a rythm can get by ignore note high or multiple notes at same time.
a phrase menu create rythm from phrase can do it
the random generator do automatic repetition notes as it is. maybe the melody generator give more better results when it have a repetition slider.

You know that the rhythm part of a phrase can be dragged (Ctrl-drag) and dropped
1. to other phrases (for generators the rhythm pattern is replaced, for ordinary phrases an 'Apply Rhythm' variation is added)
2. to the rhythm section of the phrase generator properties. If you select "Manual Editing" there is a drop target next to the "Manual Editing" label.
3. on the Rhythm Browser for saving it.

Hi magicmusic,
That is strange!
Any CTRL key is usable. I have tried this on my laptop too.
Hold down CTRL, click on a phrase and start dragging.
Just like you do for copying phrases, only use the CTRL instead of ALT.
Is there any software installed that interferes with keyboard handling?
Regards,
Attila
