What are your experiences with automatic audio quantization in DAWs? Let's assume I have guitar tracks that I want to get automatically corrected by the DAW... Logic has flex time, Pro Tools has beat detective and elastic audio, Cubase and other DAWs seem to have similar features, too. Which DAW is the easiest to use and most reliable for this task?

I use Logic and find the flex time feature a little bit inconvenient to use (but maybe I'm just doing it the wrong way, who knows). Are other DAWs offering a more convenient and quicker workflow - maybe even a reliable one-click solution?

Live is one. Studio One 3 is another, so is Reaper 5 and Cubase.

Basically anything with warp/stretch/bend/whatever marker quantizing will sound very very similar if they're using elastique.

Studio One and Live do combine ease of use with Elastique V3 though, so that's probably your best starting point.

Best? Live and Studio One IMHO. :) For multiple tracks at once like drums Studio One is perfect. :)

Surely you just happened to misquote me. I don't see a 9 there.

I know nothing! 8)

(Is that enough emoticons yet? Am I being ambiguously clear?)

The keystroke was quicker than the eye!

I find it easy to quantize audio using Elastic Audio in Pro Tools.

I use Live and Pro Tools and I think they both sound slightly off when quantizing guitars and would never use either extensively. You're better off manually editing, in which case you definitely don't want Live.

I use this feature in Samplitude all the time.

Don't ask me, I just play here.

Beyond processes you apply directly to audio, like Warping, Groove quantization and vanilla quantization, in Ableton Live you can also Slice To MIDI/Rack, making very easy to manually adjust the timing of audio slices by just moving MIDI notes.

Live also allows unorthodox workflows like getting the MIDI of a famous guitar part (Live has a very good audio-to-midi function too) and applying its "groove" (timing, velocity) to your recorded audio. I guess it mostly useful for covers, but if you nailed one part of a original song, you could "extract the groove" of that good part and apply it to the rest.
