Yep! It's as good as Windows 7 compatibility I have saved a project containing the problematic instruments, exit, open again, load ... etc No problem Still slow in starting and loading projects compared to Studio One and FLS, but no crashes

Thanks vintagesamples Now I have 5 excellent stable DAWs I have no idea which one will be my main DAW

Let's save now for the 9th generation upgrade

the last resort is j-bridging the 32bit plugin

i don't have any issue with 8.5 pro under win10x64 win8 compatibility mode
fast and no crashes at all

seriously nothing beats Cubase when it comes to midi composition
the closer one is reaper
have been demoing S1v3 for a few days
all i can say is beautiful GUI & color
very good piano roll layout
it has the thinnest note size which makes it able to show more pitch-named notes than all other DAWs
but overall it is counter-intuitive
very difficult to handle multiple midi tracks

FL tends to be a cpu hog
and a bit troublesome when it comes to automation
you know....many DAWs allow you to tweak the parameters in the track list

Well, it still slower than other DAWs in starting and loading projects/instruments.

I'm not using 32bit plugins in 64bit DAWs. I have them separated

I do think that the other 4 DAWs I have are great just like Cubase! Every one is excelling in something but in my case, Cubase has the advantage of being more comfy because I used it much more than the others in the past, so my mind and hands are easier functioning with Cubase.

Still, the other DAWs are really fantastic and I begin to be faster in using them with time. I don't think I will use Reaper for midi composing, not because it is lacking, but because I find it difficult to get used to it. The other three (S1, FLS and Live) are good enough for me to use them in midi editing (FLS has a killer piano roll, while S1 and Live both have a great design and workflow). I might add Bitwig! But it is too much I think

get a mouse with extra buttons
then get autohotkey installed and map alt click & delete and something else to extra buttons
now Cubase has the most powerful piano roll in this planet
lets not forget alt click can draw notes + copy notes + split notes

S1 is still very immature in multiple midi editing
I started a thread in this forum a few days ago and listed problems about that
selecting a track in piano roll's track-list will not auto-arm that track
so you have to select that in project windows/drop down menu
but by doing that
it will not lock the previous item/track from editing automatically
simply put, that would be a nightmare even with 15+ midi tracks
let alone orchestral composition

The simpler Shuttle Express is what I use with left hand (while right on mouse) in every daw, turn ring to zoom timeline in out, jog wheel to move. You can use two in the same system even.

Pretty well thought out. One thing though, don't run daws as Admin, or it doesn't work.
I think some daws or plugins require that.
