A ridiculous reply. Sylenth1 is not perfect, and there would be nothing wrong with updating and perfecting it...brainzistor wrote:Don't tell me, those 2 things prevented you to make hit songs, to become rich and a music legend and when you turned 70 to marry a 20 years old super model who wanted to have your kids and these are the reasons why Sylenth1 has not been used by thousands of artists in the last 10 years and why Sylenth1 doesn't have bajillion of soundbanks and presets available and it prevented Sylenth1 to be one of the most used synths in the last decade and to remain to be relevant and a top dog.fluffy_little_something wrote:Maybe he will implement something really wild and revolutionary, like, PWM or a reverb that doesn't sound like a tin can

Another feature I suggest is a button for copying an entire layer to the other layer.

I was just checking some of the different prices:chk071 wrote:Yes, sounding good, and light on CPU. Still, i would have thought they'd do a 50% off sale or so. Too pricey for what it does, especially as Spire is on a 30% off sale, and can be had for about the same price (edit: Spire is even 20 € cheaper with the current sale...).
Edit: Just checked, and, adding VAT, Sylenth1 is a blazing 165 € on this 25% off sale, lol... IMO, that's ridiculous. Well, people gotta know.
HIVE is $149, Dune 2 is a bit more at $169, and Synthmaster is only $69 for the "Standard" license for Black Friday (November 21-30).

Is the velocity problem fixed? In one session we had perfect sound from Sylenth, but needed velocity. We never got it working properly and changed synth, we never got the same sound though also.. this was years ago.

Sylenth is kinda like Virus or other legendary synths - if you want this exact sound you buy it regardless the price, otherwise there are plenty of alternatives which may be cheaper, techncially superior, have more features but none of them sounds exactly the same
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

I don't know of any velocity problem. Can you describe it? I have the demo version installed...legendCNCD wrote:Is the velocity problem fixed? I haven't really found any alternative, yet. The only thing that needed fixing was your lack of knowledge how to achieve it.legendCNCD wrote:Is the velocity problem fixed? In one session we had perfect sound from Sylenth, but needed velocity. In Sylenth1 you need to modulate velocity so that keys or midi notes respond to different velocities, actually Sylenth1 to respond to different velocities.
MISC1: Source/Velocity->Volume A(B), turn the knob to the max, Volume knobs of oscillators turn to zero or else they'll override modulation and you have Sylenth1 responding to different velocities.
In most cases people use Cut Off A(B) instead of Velocity A(B) so that different velocities produce different sound which makes the sound more organic.

Did you mean Volume there?brainzistor wrote:The only thing that needed fixing was your lack of knowledge how to achieve it.legendCNCD wrote:Is the velocity problem fixed? Anyway, one can use both as there are two targets per source, anyway, so no mod slot is wasted.

If you're looking for "that sound", Sylenth is still the best sounding/CPU ratio on the market. A true legend.

WHat's that sylenth .sound ???
It sure ain't the filter ...
Zebra's xmf filter ( set to analogue mode) with overdrive halfway up sounds identitical to sylenth
I remember when sylenth came out back in ..what was it 2006 something ..didn't really get all the fuzz about it .
It sounded good yes ..the ( bandlimited ) oscillators are nice ..so were the filters ( no zdf) ...back then
Lfo's that go into audio rate without artifacts ( looking at you u-he hive
, with your low update rate ) ..
What sets sylenth apart from the rest is it small cpu footprint ..that's about it .
In 10 year time almost nothing has changed ..no updated filters etc , at 170 euro it's a ripp of .
Lennar digital has been milking his baby for over ten years ...that's something trully amazing

I think it's not the technical features (like ZDF, huge CPU-print, lotsa modulation, fancy envelopes, better inbuilt reverb, etc.) that create the "base sound character" (of any synth, hardware or software).gentleclockdivider wrote:WHat's that sylenth .sound ???

Not sure, but I'd say these make the "base sound character" of any synth:
- the raw sound of the OSC
- the filter
- electronic components in the signal path (not emulated in every software, probably only in newer software. but maybe the digital signal flow can have an impact, no clue about that)
But I agree, the price is steep. But if you cannot live without Sylenth and you can live with the limited features (some you've mentioned), then you have to pay for "that" sound. Or you go for a cheaper alternative, that sounds similar.

Apart from the sound (which I still like a lot and prefer to most other, more recent synths), there are certain details about it that are rare in other synths even today. For instance the way the envelopes start anew without any noise when playing the same notes again with patches with long release. I so prefer that to the usual mediocre pick-up modes.
Or the 1-voice poly mode, which I like because I don't have to live with note priority.
Or the configurable retrigger and phase controls in the osc section.
