The good Mr. Ainslie consented to a reconstruction of Filter. Went from being beats-oriented electronica to the humming sounds of electrified swamplife.
Here it is: Filter (a frog in a bog mix)
All sounds come from the original. Done in Audiomulch and Sound Forge, with effects here and there. It's long (13:23) and a big download (19M), so don't kill your dial-up.
As always, all questions, comments, praise and derision welcome.
Cheers,
Steve

Indeed, I listened to his Southport track several times today. Quite liked his 1-minute clips from a while back, too. Don't see him posting new stuff enough though.vurt wrote:quite scary really aint it

Thanks, John. I think it'll hold up to repeat listening.jdg wrote:killer killer killer.

I've listened to it a lot over the past couple of days, and found I was more comfortable with its finished state the more I heard it.
Glad you liked.

some really cool noises in here. it does make me think a lot of frogs
not sure whether thats normal
quite claustrophobic really, with the constant rythmic noises, very cool, and the mix feels so airy when they stop as a contrast.
enjoyed this lots.
cheers,
steve.

Funny you should mention that. Morton Feldman has been on mind lately. Why Patterns? especially, and his use of repeated patterns as a form of musical colour, like in a Rothko painting.jdg wrote:already listened several times.

Mr Ian did a most grand remixing job here indeed. Beautiful flow that did conjur up the swamp picture in my mind. A very tempered piece that builds its energy quite subtly.
My hat off to the both of you

This is actually me remixing Ian's tune. I wasn't sure how he was going to feel about it actually, as I've really taken his track apart, but he seemed pleased with it.
Cheers,
Steve
