Giving away "free" plugins raises attention, gives free press and social media coverage in a highly competitive, maybe even over-saturated market and reaches people who otherwise would never get in touch with the company.

I'm not saying this because I hate Soundtoys, In fact I can 100% recommend them. The plugins are great, support is great and they manage to keep the plugins backwards compatible. Just saying this to... say how it is.

The tremolator is a great one. Does surprisingly more than the usual tremolo knob.

Wow how terrible for these people to actually want to work hard, provide products that many people think highly of, and to expect to actually be paid so they can make money to put a roof over their heads, feed their children, keep the lights on, buy food etc. Wow, sooo depraved! :dog:

I get your basic point and I think, despite being judged to be "extremely naive" by you, people know how the the whole game works. It's like when a company hands out free cookies while you're shopping for groceries. Yes, of course, it's to drive up sales and create goodwill towards the company, but you still should be gracious and say thank you for them giving away something to you for free.

Or, if during a great catastrophe,a large corporation gives away $2,000,000. of sterile baby products to families with young children stricken by the tragedy. You don't attack them by saying, " I see what you're doing, you're trying to create goodwill for your company that can actually help your bottom line over the long hall!. You've depraved for trying to do the best thing for your 20,000 worldwide employees and their families! I think others might say, "We have 3 young children and we can really use these while we get on our feet again. THANKS!"

If you feel that capitalism is so depraved, then don't participate in it at all. Are you currently using any products provided by companies involved in this "depraved capitalistic system"; a computer perhaps? internet providers? cel phone? clothes? food? music gear? If so, maybe you should stop, and start doing everything on your own; start sewing your own clothes with cloth that you make yourself from cotton that you grew and harvested yourself with a needle to made from the iron ore you extracted from the ground. I guess you'll have to make things to spin the raw cotton into thread to make your own cloth on your hand-made loom etc. etc. Well, that about covers some clothes, now on to making your own computer, cellphone etc etc. Good Luck!

First Sie-Q, and Tremolator, What is the next?

Sie-Q was so great - and this is the unexpected icing on the cake. Very generous of Soundtoys!

I don't have iLock HW, just the SW thing for the Soundtoys bundle, ain't mo thing really.

Melda is irrelevant ITT.

Nab this thing free and no doubt succumb to an upgrade at a later date. Guaranteed :-P

Post

I am happy to be so "extremely naive" as to be thankful, so unsophisticated that I do not inquire so deeply into the possible motives for the gift that I become ungrateful.

Only joking. Thanks for the reminder.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

I heard this is good on vocals. I wonder if it's good on drums?

Hehe, that is how they got me last year, got all the 'Little' plugs via that donation drive last year, and then a sale came along and the price was just too good to argue about. Was totally worth it, I use mostly everything.

P.S. Was I the only one a little disappointed with Sie-Q? Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent EQ, but it doesn't seem to be in the "Soundtoys spirit" of things, they do all the crazy, nasty, bold and over the top plugs(that's why I like 'em) and Sie-Q seems too tame and out of character for them.

This plugin does not work at all on drums.

For some reason, when I looked at the website, I had started to assume that you had to BUY something to get it. Anyways, all sorted, and it's as good as anything. Too long a story when I sold the ST stuff shortly after I bought it.

Happy to have this again :)

Exactly. I don't understand why the iLok haters don't get this. Once you commit, you have one, you're there, so it's not an issue for future products. All the Melda free stuff that I've ever tried nags. I'll take the iLok over nags.
