I don't know if they are still available but I bought a novation nocturne keyboard some years ago cheap. Something I've learned is that poly aftertouch has a price. The key-beds are more resistant and take more effort to play. They can be exhausting for unprepared hands. It's a totally different action on the keys and I hardly ever use it. It IS nice to have though.

I would already be happy if my controller supported global AT
Why doesn't Korg make a poly AT controller at an affordable price? Say, 49 keys, no frills (such as pads, sliders etc.), for 250 dollars. I bet a lot of people would buy it and it would be worth it for Korg as well over the years.

excuse my ignorance but what is polyphony aftertouch and how is that different from aftertouch?
It doesn't matter what note you press down on, the same modulation will be applied to all keys. Right?

Is poly AT transmitted on a different channel than global AT? Just wondering because with some sounds such as swelling brass pads, global AT might be more useful, so one should be able to select the kind of AT needed (if one is lucky enough to have a poly AT keyboard, that is
). Or to use poly AT on the keyboard and global AT on a pedal?
Thinking about it, how does global AT even work? Say, I play a chord, where logically I press every key with a different force, which of them determines the level of the global AT value?

Both are separate event-messages (not CC).
Poly AT is a 3 byte message, Chan-AT is a 2 byte message.

Normally this should be determined by the maximum pressure of all the pressed keys.Say, I play a chord, where logically I press every key with a different force, which of them determines the level of the global AT value?
