Tone2 sale... which one should I get?

Okay, I found it at JRRShop.
Question: I already own these 3 synths.
Electra 2
Rayblaster
Icarus
All 3 are truly uniquely different from each other. Which of the ones remaining will truly give me something much different from what I already have. I'm thinking Saurus 2 is the least likely of the remaining as I can get similar sounds with Icarus. So it's between Gladiator 2 and Nemesis. The only FM synth I own is FM 8. Is Nemesis truly very different from it? Is it radically different from Tone 2's other synths?

I find Nemesis quite a good FM synth. And yes, it is quite different from FM8 (for instance). For starters, there is not just 1 way to add osc's as an mod source, but several, which changes the carrier quite a bit in experimental, fun and usable ways.wagtunes wrote:Okay, I found it at JRRShop.

If you ask me, they found a new and different way to approach FM. I like it.

I own Gladiator, but i hardly use it. Not my type of synth, but that is ofcourse very subjective.

Is Nemesis a 6 OP FM synth or some radically different architecture? Can't tell from looking at the GUI.exmatproton wrote:I find Nemesis quite a good FM synth. 2 times 1 carrier and 1 mod (4 OSC in total). The architecture is quite different from the "standard" 6 OP FM synths like FM8 or Sytrus.wagtunes wrote:Is Nemesis a 6 OP FM synth or some radically different architecture? Nemesis, Icarus and Rayblaster are on par (imho) with completely different ways of getting nice results. The other Tone2 synths are nice, but quite standard, imho. Less unique, if you ask me. Fun nevertheless...thecontrolcentre wrote:Nemesis is my favorite Tone2 synth ...

Okay, just downloaded the Nemesis demo. MuLab didn't like it. In fact, upon loading it not only blew it up but shut down PC. Fortunately, I don't use MuLab for anything but just to test demos initially. Was hesitant to load into Cubase, which is what I use, but I figured what the heck. Worst that can happen is it doesn't work. Well, the demo works fine in Cubase.
Even if I never programmed one sound in this thing, I absolutely love the way it sounds. This sounds like nothing else I own kind of like the way Omnisphere sounds like nothing else I own.
Does anybody know how long this sale is running?

I really like that one, and if I didn't have them all (but I already do) it would be tough to decide between them all. I used Saurus more than any of them for my own songs and preset design, but I've also made presets for Electra2, Rayblaster, and Nemesis.

I love Gladiator and Nemesis man... Saurus II is good as well but it's got a lot of sound crossover with other synths as you said.wagtunes wrote:Okay, I found it at JRRShop.

I think Nemesis has a very different sound, so I'd get that before Gladiator. It probably doesn't have the range of sounds Gladiator has overall but if you like your FM then Nemesis fit the bill.
It's very easy to program and sounds great even without much processing. Lovely for bass, plucks and the arp is class. It's definitely one of my favorite synths.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Well, I bit the bullet on Nemesis. Couldn't pass it up at this price.
Synth has got character. I mean real character. There is nothing generic about it. I'm discovering that you can really F up the sound real good as in make it really ugly as sin. If you want beautiful soundscapes, they're doable but you better tread lightly.
This is not another ho hum synth. In fact, this may turn out to be my favorite Tone 2 synth of the 4 I now have.
I'm really looking forward to diving into this one.
Looks like December is going to be Avenger AND Nemesis month.
