Depressing? Maybe. Certainly bleak, stark and beautiful:

I do and you do, and some others do... But this is not a private gathering of incrowd (necessarily) - this is a public forum on the international cyberinternetwebz.
The OP should've defined the context more clearly. There are plenty of people out there that call melancholic depressive, and not in a positive way. (no pun and/or irony intended)
If you don't feel like posting anything melancholic / depressive, then don't. It's just one of those qualitative things where you can't put it into simple terms, just something you know when it's there. I'm interested in such music hence I asked for it, knowing fully well that most of the stuff won't be in my taste at all. Maybe something will be (and so far, there has been!) and I'll be happy. I didn't use the term "sad music" (although, one could apply to some extent similar criticism there, "hey, this kind of music makes me sad in not-good-way") because to me sad is far more neutral, less associated with that kind of "all hope is lost" and more with that "hey, it's a bad day, but there's always tomorrow" kind of thing.

We all know it, there's a whole spectrum of this stuff. A teenager could post something by blink-182 because, well, you know, it can be that sort of thing to them. So let them post it. If someone can't figure out what I mean, then maybe there's nothing she or he could have posted in the first place. Maybe there is. But chances are, nobody will lose any sleep for it, right?

And by the way, I do not object to these discussions at all. It's very intriguing matter. But I think the focus is better spent elsewhere than the question "What do you mean by it?"

Continuing with the depressive theme:

Nearly anything with rap, anything with autotune, almost anything with oh oh oh's or seasick-sidechain compression.

I think some of the most depressing music is the "pop super star" main street music that so many record companies have get behind.

You know, music that is really made simply for the sake of making money.

Now that's depressing.

Having said that, there is always good music being made, but these days its on "independent" labels.

Nice. It reminded me a bit of Dido's Lament.

And as long as I'm posting something by her...(although I admit to not fully knowing what depressing means in this context...)

What you don't understand is that "record companies" are in business to make money, not pamper stars. Yes, they do that, but in the end it's always about scratching someones back. Also, do some research on the failures of the music business. Like one hit wonders, records that failed to sell, or terrible deals that left them wishing they hadn't.

Like it or not, it's a business. You have to be good or REALLY lucky to make it.

The lyrics in this song don't make much sence, basically it's about a girl who sees a gray wolf in her dreams and asks him to take her somewhere far away. Gray wolf is a common archetype of Russian folklore.

And if you want more Russian depressing music, here ya go, depression is something we are really good at.

You may think you can fly ... but you better not try
