Mine arrived today, and I have to say it's way smaller than I thought. Feels robust, was easy to add to my account and the whole bunch of activations went over like a charm. Although it said it would require Win7 and above it was immediately recognized as iLok Key on my WinXP system without the need of installing any new driver. It just... works. And there is indeed a blue glowing LED. No speed tests from me, at least not on this system. Mainly I wanted this because I was never satisfied with the predecessor regarding look and feel. iLok3 is what iLok2 should have been. The price tag... hell yeah. I spent money on much more useless stuff in the past, like wooden panels for a desktop synth. It's just another sub type of GAS...

How much faster is it than the old iLok? Read on the web it's allegedly faster; how much so? That's what I care about most. The build quality of the old one was OK with me because I am a hermit crab and never go any where; the iLok literally sits on a table in a very calm place where my computer sits and it's fine, and has been fine. I hope I'm not jinxing myself... :)

Any reports or info on how much faster it is in terms of loading plugins? Like Soundtoys echoboy or such the first time loaded in a fresh DAW session (once loaded it must be cached or something because subsequent use of new instances of the plug seem much faster to load up).

Thanks in advance for any info shared :)

I have the same Belkin USB hub and It's such a flimsy piece of garbage (the metal part slides around the plastic part and has detached).

Brent what plugins for iLok are you using and can you please tell us how much faster they load? Allegedly it's faster according to this URL:

Also any recommendations of some more sturdy USB hubs? What happens is if I'm cleaning the table or reaching for something and bump the hub it seems to disconnect all the devices at once and re-connect them again.

Cheers,

I can't say that I noticed any speed difference, per se. Works like it should,
