Having become enamored of music production and music technology, I was becoming increasingly cynical and just mean. This stuff costs money and I..... I lack it. My first five years were cool...you know discovery, sufficient funds. Life had dealt me a decent hand and like most people I was completely unaware how happy I was. How lucky I was. That's when things changed...I changed. I'll spare you the whiny details....bottom line Cancer. Late stage..incurable..fixed income..blah..blah...etc. I started to resent Black Friday...Cyber Monday...any of the "Days", and oh the people....... should I get this synth or that one ...hell it's on group buy I'ma get 'em all!! Yeah... I was a hater, a pretty poor excuse of a human being. In my misfortune I held their good fortune against them. If I could maybe I'd buy a personality on discount. Then I decided to see things from a different perspective. Instead of throwing shade at some undeserving potential friend.Instead of letting myself get twisted because someone has it made and I don't. Hold it !!! See that's it right there. I do have IT!! On any of THE "Days" instead getting my panties in a bunch, I'd scroll through my VST folder and pick any one of the plug-ins I got too lazy to learn, or the one I never grasped it's finer points because they are subtle, and I've become spoiled by stuff that hits you over the head. So what if I can't afford the new gear!! How about trying old gear in new ways. Or that warm feeling of figuring out so THAT'S what that does!

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
