So im upgrading my studio from only ableton + headphones + scarlett 2i4 into semitreated room with new monitors and at the same time im looking to buy new synth to learn.

Im going for 8" monitors. I have been thinking about Yamaha HS8, JBL LSR308 and Adam F7 but cant decide which one to buy. Which one would you recommend? Adam F7 sounded really good but im afraid it doesnt go low enough and i dont want to get a sub.

For synth i have been thinking maybe to buy komplete 11 (which includes massive). My other options are Serum and Omnisphere and cant really decide. I have been able to test first Omnisphere and i loved it, i guess the 2 is just better again. I have heard so many good things about komplete and Serum too. I will probably buy 2/3 of these software but dont know which ones.

I will be producing some trance, dubstep + some tracks for games and i wanna try to compose for movies also so i could use good orchestral vst.

Thank you guys for all your answers in advance :)

I can only advice you on the monitors: find a music shop that has some in stock and have a listen. Only that way you can judge which sound best to your taste.

I use small-ish 6.5" monitors, and for my room (3x3 meters) they have enough bass for mixing decisions.

Unless your studio is really large, you might not need 8-inch monitors. I checked into this when I was shopping for monitors and ended up with the HS7s. In my 27' x 13' studio, the HS7's work great.

As BertKoor said, listening to monitors though is really the best way to shop.

I love HS8, they translate quite well.

And komplete is a great start point, I would even say it has almost everything you need and you will take a lot of time to explore it.

It feels like so many people are saying different things. Some say dont get 8" for small room and some say get those definately and build some bass traps. I will treat the new room but it will be small. Well i guess i will buy whichever has best deals on black friday

I don't quite get why you shouldn't get the "biggest" speakers you can afford (with respect to low end). Even if your room is small, listening to a few reference records that you know well will help you finetune your ear to a possible over-representation of the low frequencies... while you will never be able to substitute mentally for frequencies that are lost due to speakers that are too small.

The HS8 by Yamaha is sic.

HS8's are great and get you really low frequencies.
Omnisphere has huge array of sounds and lots of control. I'm sure you could fine some orchestral stuff in it. Also, EastWest stuff is amazing.

Shame you ask now. Last week would have been more appropriate, with all those sales and stuff. :P

+1 for Komplete though, if you're looking for something which literally should cover it all. If you want less stuff, but still a complete synth, Falcon, Omnisphere, or wait for VPS Avenger.

do you think Avenger will be better than Omnisphere?
