Nah, this would be my older brother, who can actually stick to a task until it's done! ;) My younger brother is the fancy-free (and highly distractable) film auteur. :D

Indeed! 8)
Secret revealed: Wopelka is one of two other people that has access to my MFX plugs!

Yeah, that's the They Might Be Giants vibe I was going for. And indeed, Wierd Al is certainly of the same school.
BTW, 30 takes is NOTHING
It's the minimum I need to not be dreadfully flat as I am usually! :singer: :uhuhuh:

Thanks for the comments guys. Some of you mentioned to build it up more and you are right. Something I definitely need to improve. Also the mix, I definitely should rest on an entry before posting cuz the mix is total shit compared to some entries like Lady_j or Jdg (f**king nice mix man, the clearest so far, your sounds are real upfront). I'm pretty much guilty of overproduction with compressors and all that bullshit.

Considering this all started as a frustration-release track I'd say you're quite right.
farlukar wrote:I love the Fizing sounds, but it couldn't keep me interested for over half a minute... after that it evolves into more of the same. It sounds a bit like "ooh I'm off to Southport in 15 minutes and I still have to do a contest entry.."
Something like that :P
thomasc-dk wrote:Yeah. No real sounds in sight. Do you even own a mike? Really good++
Thanks Thomas, I do have a mike, just haven't used it much yet.

Thanks to Guitarjeff and Nikp2000 for the reviews too

Hopefully I'll get into things and get to reviewing this month myself too.

EarthTones wrote:[Don't give up on it man! - I heard real potential there! A hint of TFF - which is one of my fav bands.

I'd personally take it more into the TFF or U2 direction and add some edgy guitar in spots (1:36 screams for some heavy guitars), pull that damned bass down, re-prog the drums for a smoother feel(definately drop the snare stutter when you enter the chorus 0:22 & 0:58 ), and polish/bring up some vocals parts - loved the gated/echo fx at 1:20 BTW - nice 8) ... What'd you use for that??

Might start it off with some soft tabla drums as well to match the ending
Cheers Earthtone...:D

Who are TFF?

I'm not actually going to do any more work on this song... just learn from the mistakes from it and move on! :) .. However I'm going to do a erm.. "mix Pack" of it as Rob wanted to have a go at re-mixing it. So if you (or anyone else) is interested in progressing the song then your more than welcome. Just PM and I'll send a link when I've done the pack (probably this weekend sometime).

The gated sound was done using the chopper vst that comes with Cubase. It just cuts the volume on the left and right channels alternatetly. I imagine theres a similar free donwloadable one somewhere that does the same job (and probably better!).

 :o :) Thank you very much, thomasc_dk.

You´re right: I haven´t had the time to do many new songs in the last few months. But the ones I have done I have to put on my website soon.

Beardedone: Still don’t get this - very skilled - midi-piece. Come out! Do some music of your own!
I don't get what you mean Thomasc_dk. Please explain. I believe I am out! This is my own music.

Sorry. I realise this doesn't really make sense. What I'm trying to say is that you have very great skills but that your music doesn't sound very personal to me and that I would love to hear you put more of yourself into a track. Maybe it's a genre thing - I don't know. On the other hand you're never in doubt that a track is from your hands, so it's just me :-)

Properbly still doesn't make sense, so fugeddaboutit...

Sure thing Thomas. I guess my stuff doesn't gel with you.

I wss thinking though that you meant that you wanted me to play me stuff that is real in the sense of being real time recorded as oppsed to prgrammed?

I always have been of the opinion that the bearded man has one of the most recognisable personnal styles of all here at KvR. 90% of the time I will immidiately recognise (and like) his style / influence in any song.

Markleford and Sepheritoh.
Thanks so much for the support!

I do know that I have found my own way of doing things that hopefully is unique. It is something I am quite proud of. It helps that I try to be my harshest critic.

A couple more reviews: :-o

The KVR-I'm Loving It - Vishalshetye

I'm not a huge fan of this style, but this is really well done. I'd like to hear your voice a little louder in the mix, because it sounds like you sing well. The Accordian part is cool! :)

Cheeso - Sunset Moonlight (for some reason, I can't download this and get it to play, but I can stream it)

No offense man, but I don't really get this. It doesn't sound like a song to me. It just sounds like someone holding down notes on a keyboard with a Pad sound and moving a finger or 2 every now and then. Sorry.

You should be proud of it! Your music is very well done and you do have a distinct style.

Not everyone likes complex music, but many of us do!!! :D :D :D
