this is stupid... and this as a sub genre is stupid...

Bad Brains isn't "ragga-punk"... it's just punk that sounds a bit different than something like Minor Threat.

oh, and I had the JOY  of seeing N.E.R.D. in concert, and they sucked so hard it was stupid. People were leaving early, and if I see another trucker hat cocked sideways I'm gonna kill someone. I'll tell you one thing, there wasn't an ounce of punk on that stage that night. Just a terrible performance...

The Roots rocked it tho... with a full on jam session, and Martin Luther pulling an insane solo. Which brings me to a point... they are a live band.. full on jam session going.. with a hendrix style solo even... but it's still HipHop! not "quasi-rock-hop." this sub classification shit gets just silly...

Yeh, they were a punk band but Rapture is squarely Rap. Not punk hop. The whole tune has a disco feel to it. But props to Blondie and Deborah Harry for doing that tune. That was a big deal back then i hear.

Anyone who can mix different genres of music is a true genious, really, Im not being sarcastic, honest Im not, no really now. But true genious is to make all of your tunes fit into that genre, phew, reeeespect

I remember a certain Hollis crew doing some shit in 83 and 84. The first song that comes to mind is "Rock Box." Even that may not be the same sound, but they came out with "King Of Rock" on the next album in 84-85. This is before the 86 release of License to Ill.

we generally would meet up at various places and rather than skate around we would jump down the steps outside the shops, grind the hand rails and all that shit,im not talking going for a leisurely roller skate you pansy :x
acutally I was both at various stages, but firstly I was a breakdancer and we had a boom box and a freshly polished roll of lino that we took everywhere...
hey the lino - we did that to
there was a giant diabolical rabbit drawed on it by a graffiti artist and we always polished it with wax so the turns would be as swift as possible   i was the king of the turtle and the mill - i was never to good at the quick footwork :D

Post

hehe - we used furntiture polish on our lino but for the same purpose and I was king of the windmill in my town (apt for talking to a dutchy I guess).

Post

oh later we used.... here it comes : hair spray to  made it so slippery you could not walk on it without breaking

yeah the windmill ....hands in the crotch ?
i used my knees to much so besides bad knees which is surmountable my trainingsuite was timeworn ....which was even worse as getting your new white kangeroos dirty

Oh yeah that's right! I for some reason thought that album came out the same year. Ok then.
