I have never heard of this band. I got real interested in knowing more .....

Could you please provide me a song or something to listen to (PM or email me)

I had decided not to upgrade to sonic synth 2, and then you had to do this. Not only tell us that SS2 is a real good progmodule but prove that you know what you're talking about with these Genesis-covers.
I don't like you... :)

I REALLY enjoyed your tracks, thanks...

More on topic I'm a real fan of Genesis, especially before Peter Gabriel left (but I do think "Trick of the tail" is ok, while "Wind and wuthering" is too much of a Tony Banks album.). I'd have to make "Lamb lies down..." and "Foxtrot" a draw as best Genesis album ever. I'm also one of those few people who enjoys some tracks on "From genesis to revelation", even if the strings are annoying.

The neoproggers? I think it's a good thing. I enjoy groups like Pallas, Spocks Beard, Arena, Flower kings and not least Marillion.

Prog-fans who haven't seen it should check out http://www.gepr.net

I think 'Curious Feeling' is really good. Sort of sombre and emotional, I think its about someone slowly losing his mind...

Now, 'Evidence of Autumn' is a stndout song from the later period Genesis stuff, I have it on a double album called 'Three sides Live'. it had, strangely enough, 3 live sides and one studio side.
I think it was released with different tracks in different parts of the world, but here, it was on that. A lovely song.
Hi Zoing, THANKS for that!! Strangely enough I had a tape from a friend ( a real prog-he-knows-anything  , fun to listen to him, but don't start a discussion if you're tired at 4 in the morning  - love that). He gave me FOUR SIDES LIVE. A rare thing from Canada or so, don't remember. So THIS is why I missed that song!!! I simply don't know the studio-recordings...4th side were old live-things, fine too, tape broken :x and killed driving cars in the heat :hihi:
Thanks very much, I must go to my local shop this weekend...
And Thomas Covenant  ? I really see I have to look a bit more after this fine type of music :D . Never heard of...  . If you'd have time, pm or write me a short bit about that, much appreciated...

Well, Sonik Synth 2 has practically every Tony Banks sound in it. I pretty much did that for my own convenience of having it all in one box but I figured a few Genesis fans would appreciate it too. Kevin also produced a record for Keith Emerson that was never commercially released (called "Cream of Emerson Soup"... maybe it was released independently). Anyway, I am good friends with his tech Will and we compiled a bunch of Keith's keyboards and synth sounds for Sonik Synth 2 as well... C3 (which I used on this Lamb gig) plus Moog Modular and even his rare GX-1... but I will talk about this and some other surprises more when it gets closer to release toward the end of next month. But, "progmodule" is one of the things it has within it and in a very authentic way. It even shows pictures of the vintage synths when you load the sound.... okay, back to Genesis talking. I have a problem with hyping a product before it is even available and people get on my case. So, when it is out I will reveal some other special things that may entice you... and of course lots of mp3 demo riffs.

I already saw their ´Foxtrot´ and ´Selling England´ shows and it was enthusiastic. Will go to the ´Lamb´ show fore sure in spring here in Germany. And you´re totally right with the time machine thing. 8)

I fully agree. Only the "Calling All Stations" concerts weren´t very exciting. :(

Hmmm.... I am a bit confused :?

Last night I downloaded two tunes:
Lost in space and A rainy day. I did not play them until just now and thought they were real great and I would like to listen to the other songs on that page (I was also a bit interested in the download graphics and would like to get in touch with the copyright holder). But.... where was I ... cant find it!!! I am pretty sure it was this thread. :help:

Another thing...

I am a VERY old bloke, so old that I saw some of the Genesis concerts back in the 70:s. :D

Last year I got hold of some DVD:s with lots of Genesis concert films from 72-73. Has anybody else here seens them and what are your opinion if you compare these concerts with the "Look-a-like" band that are touring with these songs today. Do I waste my time if went to one of their concerts?

Thanks Andreas, I will buy it next week from german Amazon, when new fresh money arrives next week.

Those small clips (20 sec of lousy quality) convinced me but I would like to listen to a decent MP3 or OGG until I receive the record in a couple of weeks. Anybody?

I only know ´The Musical Box´. I´ve seen them 2 times in concert and can highly recommend it:

I have seen their ´Foxtrot´ and ´Selling England...´ tours and I was very impressed. This group ("The Musical Box") is very authentic - highly recommended to every early Genesis fan.

There has been a time when it was a shame to tell that we were listening to progressive rock.
For me GENESIS was the best prog band, followed by YES.
But I 've also loved King Crimson, Camel, Ange (for the frenchies ;-)), Rush, Kansas, Alan Parsons, Barclay James Harvest, etc...

The prog and best period of Genesis start with Trespass and ends with Wind and wuthering.

And then they where three is a strange album : good compositions but the sound is agressive and it looks like a caricature of prog and not prog itself.
Duke is good but some compositions are crap (man of our times, misunderstanding, etc..), the best piece is cul de sac, but the sound of the album is too monotone : everywhere you have this coloured Tony Banks piano (but I adore Tony Banks).

The albums after (Abacab, Genesis, etc...) are not so bad, but it's no more prog.
The favorite piece of this period is the Home by the sea suite.

Calling all station is the only Genesis album I don't like.
