Evolution MK 449c and SW (Traction, Buzz, Cubase, ... ) ?

Hi,

I am just looking for cheap masterkeyboard and I think I could buy Evolution MK 449c, do you have any experiencies with it (I am using Traction, Buzz, Ableton Live, ...).

Or dont you know any better for that price (200Euro) or is there any synth that could be use also as masterkeyb?

I used the 461 a fair amount at my mixing engineer's studio and I must say I was impressed. Given that the only real differences between the two models are a reduced number of rotary controllers and fewer octaves on the keyboard I would definetly reccomend it. The user interface is wonderful. You can rapidly assign any controller, including the mod wheel, to any CC# by simply holding the controller assign button, typing the # in on the keypad and moving the controller. It's a blast.

I tried using it with Sonar and Buzz and it worked fine, but I didn't do anything very demanding in Buzz with it.

I have a MK-449c. I'm very satisfied with it, but I'm a guitarist. Easy MIDI-CC assignment and no problems from the beginning.
Maybe a keyboarder or pianist will tell you that the keys are too light in comparision to weighted keys, but as I said: I'm guitarist.

I had one, but got rid of it. I was powering it from the USB port, and it seemed to be unreliable for use in a live situation. I've got an edirol now, which seems to be more robust.
But, the evolution is cheap and has heaps of controllers. The keyboard feels a bit yuk to me, but that's all opinion.

About the feel of the keys: I personally prefer the feel of heavily weighted keys so my primary controller is a Yamah P-60. But if you either prefer lighter keys or just want to make things work in a lower price range, then I still reccomend this keyboard. The additional controller functionality alone makes it a great buy.

Working fine for me with Project 5 and Sonar 3P. I like the feel of the velocity sensitive keys and controller assignment is a breeze. Multiple softsynth controller assignments can be created and saved in the new Enigma library program that is downloadable from Edirol when you register the keyboard. 449C is perfect for the small/home studio if you want to save some desk/rack space. The missing octaves are easily obtainable via the octave transpose buttons. No problem powering with USB, but you can always buy a mains power adapter if you don't want to run it on USB. Sustain pedal is an optional extra also which you can use as another controller.

I have a MK.249 USB

Never had a problem, very good piece of hw.
It has 4.octaves + 16MIDI controllers to play with + additional options x banks,progs, etc.

449 is surely a step-up and from what I can see it has some nice new features like sliders and the keypad display.

Synth keyboard..I think this option is way more expensive than 200 eurs and I dont think u would be able to use it as MIDI controller.

Don't know what are u looking for, but if u'r kind of newb to the whole thing I would suggest to keep things simple at first and get urself a simple MIDI keyb like this http://www.edirol.com/products/info/pcrm1.html
which is a good, no.fuss, starting base to play around with ur soft synths/samplers/drummachines etc.etc.
But, again, depends on which music are u on..
If u need more 'playing' space than 4.octave mk449 is for u defintely.
Personally, I'd save on my controller and spend some good bucks on soft.

I have mk449c and midiman(m-audio) radium 61.
I use them with reason, cubase, Live.

I personally prefer the design and ease of use of Evolution products.
but radium's keys feel a little better than mk449c.

I'm a keyboard player and mk449 is not bad but if you
want nice keyboard actions I wouldn't recommand it that much.
