I hope that sandboxing is implemented and most importantly loading a plugin does not disrupt the playing audio (which I guess would be part of sandboxing in that it will use a separate thread to load), I find it seriously annoying in this day and age and should have been implemented many years ago. This disruption to workflow is far from professional...

Also speeding up load time & the option to disable plugin scans would be very welcome. If these were the only improvements/features I would be happy, but I am not hopeful as they don't seem to refine existing features very often, which I believe is much more important than new features.

But I'm sure I'll like what is in the update too, they do tend to be very innovative

Stability under Windows 10 without "compatibility mode"?

9 might be a good chance for Steinberg to update the verification system for their products. Tried to install Padshop Pro on a new system and gave up after about an hour of trying to figure everything out with all the updates and requirements with that VST. I would have had a better chance at conducting brain surgery on myself, and kind of wanted to at that point.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh noooooooooooooooooooo, not a lot of external plugin bling-bling content.

Please Steinberg, focus on features in gui and workflow and customization of gui.....but I think C9 is here on friday(two days away).

New video engine not needing quicktime seems to be delayed until feb-march or so, so wonder if that is fixed i C9 - probably not. So no hurry to to update unless that is fixed.

I'm on 8.5.. but dont use Cubase as my main DAW anymore. Live took over this year. So if I was to use Cubase for more than mixing sessions, I need Racks (RACKS!!!)

Time to skip the legacy limitations on the amount of inserts and sends!

I think it is time to start wishing for features etc for version 9.5. They finished version 9 a couple of months ago.

I am quite curious what they will bring to the table this time ...

I was quite disappointed about the 8.5 update, while people over at the Steinberg forum didn't understand I was not happy about a paid upate which brought you features other DAWs had for ages, some cosmetic changes (hooray for some new icons!) and an updated version of Retrologue. Comparing that with all the features, updates and extras the 7.5 update was offering, it was totally underwhelming.

Don't get me wrong - I use Cubase quite frequently for mixing and mastering, and for that purpose it suits me well - also, up to V7.5 I was quite happy with what I got for the paid updates.

But now, since people don't mind to pay 100 bucks begging for an update that brings sandboxing for VSTs, undo functionality for the mixer section or bezier curves for automation (so essentially features that other DAWs already have integrated or always had integrated, OR got it with a free update), I really feel that, after paying 550 for Cubase 5 plus all the extra money for the updates, I somehow am barking up the wrong tree here - especially considering the "bang for the buck" on a long term basis.

If they hold to their typical way we should know by tomorrow or Friday and should have it available by next week sometime.

Cubase 9 coming in December according to Guitar Center
