In case someone is in need of some fresh Falcon sounds, I just released another library from the Falcon Singles series: Falcon Scapes Vol. 2, check it out here.

Post

So I've been using a decidedly west coast approach with Falcon, and its AMAZING! I love how I can program a single note to sound so complex. Starting at the bottom using lfo's and envelopes to do most of the work. Honestly I'm just now exploring the envelopes and rarly even "get to" the filters. And the top, the effects, as icing on the cake.

Whats more amazing is if I actually get arrond to polyphonically play the sound layered with a simple Piano keyboard... thru the monitors one would think that such complex sounds wouldnt layer well... But WOW.

Mostly I'm just listening to the sounds from the laptop!

Creating wavetables that give des résultats inattendus, granular mesmerizers, wonderful modulations of classic analog sounds , the pluck oscillator loaded with a rythmic sample... The freedom to explore and the fantastic sounds I get from any avenue explored.

Like last nite I created this for the wavetable, it has every other line deleted, it was just a "what if" expieriment, well modulating this at a very high rate gives a unexpected result that supprised and delighted.

I made a fool of myself when I got my first synthesizer by being overly enthusiastic in 1991, raving about the Wavestation.
I feel a fool again.

What does that mean?

West coast synthesis style. Buchla, etc.

Cool beans, I had never heard that distinction. Here's an article that I found useful, and there's also a video which I've yet to watch:

never heard about that distinction before!

Always learning :)

Herbie Hancock Chameleon song was not on Moog synths, it was ARP Odyssey 99% sure of that.

And then it happened (again)

Suddenly, whilst firing up Cubase, and nothing, absolutely nothing has changed on my puter, no Falcon, no Relayer (and no BlackHole)>

The reason? iLok.
What else!
I hate it!

these are the patches for the wavetable created with the PNG below.
Play with tempo, Tempo dramatically affects the character of the sound, the arpeggiator has hold on so just hit middle c. Filters added at the top almost as an afterthought. Up at 700(!) BPM slow down the arpeggiator

You make it sound mighty attractive. Maybe this will be my next big purchase (is a Black Friday sale in the cards?). The thing is, I've been using some smaller simpler synths lately and there's something very satisfying about working like that, fully exploring the ins and outs of a simple, more limited synth. Of course, the "one synth that does it all" dream is equally appealing. But I really look for usability / playability now, though I know that's relative and has a lot to do with how much time you put into familiarizing yourself with it. How usable, how pick-up-and-playable has Falcon been for you?

Well, If after I program Falcon, I still want to change the sound, I have access to the outstanding Falcon Presets and the UVI soundbanks, that are literally -one. click. away.
Simple as that.

I am not sure if this is a bug or wrong user behaviour... But the "linked" synth function gets re-activated when switching to effects tab, you can see this behaviour here:

Maybe you fellow Falcon owners can help me here. I am using the current 1.1.2 version of the synth.

Has anyone experienced Falcon's Edit Tab freezing, and delaying clicks? Or carrying on as if the left mouse button is still held down when it isn't? Making edits has become a lesson in futility for me, even for the most basic of patches. 1 oscillator and several LFOs for vibrato and PWM.

It's gotten so bad for me, that when I click on something, if pretends that I am still clicking it, and I end up dragging things where every my mouse goes, and then it usually just closes it. Making edits to knobs is impossible too, since it basically wont let go of the knob when I do, so my mouse just continues editing the knob. I try to double click or right click, but nothing works. It seems like eventually it lets go, but I can't really tell how or why.

Toggling things like tempo sync, or any bypass buttons does not work either. Especially when the synth is in use. When the project is stopped I can occasionally make some edits, but even then it's 50/50. I just sit there clicking and clicking, trying to turn something on or off.

While the project is playing, having Falcon open seems to sometimes freeze my DAW as well. I usually have to stop my song, then make the changes, then start it again. It does all seem to revolve around the Edit tab.

Has anyone else experienced this level of bugs with Falcon? I don't remember earlier version of Falcon having these types of problems.
A heaping dose of outrageously goofy synth tracks, scores and chiptunes.
